I was at the last game. My father had season tickets.. The woman who was the president of the booster club sat behind us and cried the entire game.

wow. just wow. I wish i could've been to one whalers game. just ONE. but nooooooooo, my parents didn't like hockey. I went to a Wolf Pack game not too long ago. guys, this is such an underrated way to have a good time. but if the whalers were there instead, and it wasn't called the XL center now.....

I used to have partial seasons. was in the Booster club, did the trips, got to know the players... Even got to hang out with Gordie Howe... Some great Fun!
I was at the Blizzard game in '81.
They actually play Brass Bonanza (Whalers theme) at Red Sox games!

Was at the last game in '97 - fitting that Dineen got the final goal in Whaler history (and the game-winner), but what a sad day it was.
Man, I miss the Whale!

As a long time and dedicated fan/season ticket holder I have never forgiven the NHL and all involved (we all know who that was), so the last Whalers game was my last NHL game attended....but what great memories!....GO WHALE!!!

I was there too. After the game was over they showed a video tribute on the jumbotron and everyone chanted "let's go Whalers." Then the video ended and everyone kept chanting. Eventually they turned the lights off and people stayed and kept chanting...

It really sucked when they left...then after all that, they finally won the Stanley Cup in Carolina. If they only stuck around a few more years.

i hear you man when i went to the games i was only about 5 years old. I dont even remember most of it. I just wish i could have seen a game when i actually knew what was going on so i could appreciate it more than i did back then. Still my favorite team tho even though they technically do not exist anymore.

I managed to get everyone's signature at the last game on my jersey. It will always be one of my most prized possessions. When these guys left..part of Connecticut left with them

There are so many people out there who love the Whalers still. You have to think that there must be enough people out there to get them back someday. Maybe not while Bettman is commissioner but there are more than enough fans on facebook to sell out the civic center, I'm sure most of us would buy season tickets.

I will tell my kids of these stories when they are growing up. Some of the best times i remember as a kid growing up. The whalers are the best team the NHL had if you ask me. I still remember their roster when they left. I still follow the individual players as it is.

Wow, I wish I knew exactly what to say. I'm a Connecticut native, and just old enough to remember some of their later days. Watching this brings back alot of memories and love for the City of Hartford and state of COnnecticut. It really makes me miss the team, and the area i call home

That is a great tribute to the Great Whaler fans of CT and the times the city had with this team. I miss them everyday & to everyone who thinks the Wolfpack is still great hockey.....WAKE UP!!!! Also the booster club is still active & the Wolfpack just banned them this year from having a table in the hallways of the Civi, NOT COOL!

I was at this game!! Almost cried all over again. One of my fondest memories with my Dad was going to games when he got tickets. It was the only thing I got to do on a school night!!!! Besides study and take care of my horse!!
