This is not the original Electric Company, obviously. The original was adult led. Adults were the center of the lessons and skits. The kids were the observers and participants in some of the skits. Fast forward thirty or so years, and now the tweens and teens are the drivers of the show. Adults have been portrayed as sneaky and untrustworthy. ... See MoreAnother difference is the tempo of the show. The new version has fast graphics, rapping that's unintelligible, over the top acting, and "special powers". The original was geared toward children that were falling behind in their education, or just not interested in school. I honestly do not know what the purpose of the new show is. As a result I have the entire DVD series of the original show and my kids, 2-5 yrs, love it; they recite some of the songs, and they "get it".

I loved the original Electric Company as a child, and now my son and I love the new Electric Company together! It's even better than I could've hoped for as a revival/remake of a beloved classic! Very entertaining and very educational! Thank you!

I like the old one from the 70's better than the new but the new does a good job too.

The new Electric Company is a smart, sophisticated show that makes language so much fun that kids don't write it off as stuff they'd do in school. I love it and so does my first-grader. Unfortunately, our PBS affiliate just dropped it, so I wish there was more to watch online.

Love this show and the original. My kids are into both. BTW, I thought John Leguizzamo (sp?) was Jon Gosselin for a second. :O)

@Christine Lorenz, If you go to www.pbskids.org/electriccompany they have a full line-up of episodes that you can watch. I think it is updated weekly. Also there are a lot of fun online games and puzzles you and your child can do together. As much as I loved the original, I think the new one is going to be better at getting to kids. Everything is ... See Morecorrect but on their terms, the way they understand things. The rapping and music I think are very helpful to help little learners understand the rhythm of language. Thumbs up from me!

Watched it today. My 9 year old did not like it at all. I do have to say the one in the 70's was better.
