The Today Show featured wish kid Heather, 11 years old from Bedford County, on their morning show September 10, 2009. In May of 2009, Heather received a wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation to meet Casey Hampton of the Pittsburgh Steelers at the team's South Side training facility. Her story was featured in the July issue of Sports Illustrated Kids. After her wish, she kept in touch with the players, including Troy Polamalu. She met Troy at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh while undergoing cancer treatments. Her and Troy developed a special bond that has given her strength to battle her illness. The Steelers player has offered her extra support and comfort throughout many doctor visits, surgeries and hospital stays.

As the Steelers get ready to kick off the new season, the Today Show caught up with Heather when she was personally invited back by the team to their training facility to pump them up for their first game. It's clear by the smile on Heather's face that even though she's fighting a tough battle, shes finds hope through her relationship with the Steelers. Heather has touched the hearts of the players and everyone in Steelers nation.
