In 2009 Starbucks awarded 50 Starbucks™ Shared Planet™ Youth Action Grants totaling $842,000 to U.S. non-profit organizations that help young people identify and address local needs in their regions and make a difference through community outreach. Starbucks has provided grants to eight of the City Year chapters in 2008 and 2009 to directly support more than 1,500 young people to create change in local communities.
