iris prolapse
in this video a patient on an alpha agonist for benign prostatic hypertrophy (on hytrin but had been on flomax in the past) has prolapse of his iris through the wound during hydrodiissection. this is a common time for prolaspe as the fluid wave from the hydrodissection catches the OVD which can pull the iris ourt the wound. it is more common in my experience if a dispersive OVD such as viscoat is used as the viscoat adheres more to the iris. here a single iris hook placed just posterior to the wound pulls the iris under the clear corneal incision to allow the surgery to continue.
