Waiatt bay traditional clam gardens dying
Clam gardens in Waiatt Bay appear to be dying. On a recent visit with local First Nation elders, we went to see the health of the clams for ourselves. Many of the clams were blackened inside, rather than a healthy pink and there is concern that much of the damage to the clam beds is a result of the huge amounts of waste from the surrounding open net-cage salmon farms in the area. — with Jody Eriksson, Aboriginal Journeys Wildlife-AdventureTours, Darren Blaney, Darren Blaney and Michelle Young. | Title:Waiatt bay traditional clam gardens dying Shared with:Public |
