Pennsylvania State Parks Today is a historic day for PA State Parks. In 1777 George Washington built a redoubt (fort) on what would become Fort Washington State Park. George Washington slept there until December 11 when he left for Valley Forge. In 1778 Frances Slocum was kidnapped by Lenni Lenape Indians in Wilkes Barre. He brothers fround her 59 years later, but she stayed with her tribe until her death.

Joe Lisa Shumbat Smow Why are all the camping site becoming pet sites? We do not take our dogs camping with us and we should not have to pay the extra fee for the site. Some parks only have dog sites and no other option. It is getting too expensive to stay at the parks and this just adds to the cost.

The fee for pet sites is only a way for the state to charge more. You can not convince me that there is no way to charge those with pets and not those without. It is not like the state provides any extra ammenities on those sites. You are able to calculate the ADA discount in so you can differentiate between pets and no pets.

LOL One time at Cook Forest, I was charged something like $3/night for water at my campsite. The closest hydrant was over 200 feet away. The situation was so ridiculous that I did not even try to contest it. Face it folks - our state parks are becoming 'resorts'. Enjoy them while you can still afford to.
