VMware Fusion Highly recommend Snow Leopard users update to Mac OS X 10.6.2! - New ATI drivers fix some issues with Windows Aero and are much more responsive. - CD/DVD drive in new iMacs work as expected one again.

I am back to running Win 7 native on Macbook Pro. When Win 7 wakes up from sleep or from hibernate, it chews up CPU forever and I just have to shut down the machine completely. It seems like SL and Fusion are fighting each other disk IO. Tons of CPU cycles being burned, maybe in spinlock for IO, I don't know. I have an SSD fwiw.

switch off 3d acceleration, it kills performance no matter how much memory you give the VM.

I want to apologize again for the poor experience many of you had trying to purchase VMware Fusion 3 or a VMware Fusion 3 upgrade yesterday. Bottom line, we saw even more demand than anticipated and the VMware upgrade portal had problems keeping up with the demand!

VMWare Fusion installs a printer driver (thinport) which works fine under Fusion, but hoarks Windows spooler when you boot up in Bootcamp. Kills the spooler when it trys to start up. To fix so you can print in Windows 7 native, you have to remove the thinport registry entries. Easy to do, but then you should export the key first, then import later when you want to print in Fusion... VMWare can you pls fix this inconvenience, and also tell your users about this problem.

The slow performance I reported in my previous post has somehow corrected itself. I installed a recommended update to Vista via Windows Update, and after rebooting my VM, Fusion started to work at acceptable, even impressive speeds. Can't say why, or if, the update had anything to do with the speed change, but sometimes it's better not to ask questions, but just roll with it :-)
