An issue with the data you used for your analysis is that the voting patterns might have been effected by the form of voting system? In defense of your work extraperlating this data is all you (dare I say we) have to go on. I do think that having at least 50% of the votes, 1st and 2nd choices, will give a stonger mandate. You (we, again?) might be ... See Moresurprised by the change this could make to the returns when 2nd votes will become more important and in a constuency there might actually be 60% of the voters who are of an 'inclusionist' bent but they lose out as the exclusionists have 40% FPTP majority?

Vote for a Change This story shows why MPs cannot be trusted to fix politics themselves. We need a new voting system to restore accountability to Westminster:

there are ways that link expenses and the worst of the Lab/Tory errors of the last 30 years not to mention bi-party warmongering of recent years. Could get a pretty good bandwagon rolling. Needs some A list celebs in the current world we live in. But they must be out there. There is also the fact that the last 30 years have led us to this sorry economic mess which will only get worse next year. Westminster has a great deal of responsibilty for that.

Vote for a Change

Vote for a Change Thanks to everyone who signed our letter to Gordon Brown. Public pressure forced the Prime Minister to agree a meeting with Vote for a Change representatives. Last night we put our arguments to him:

Vote for a Change We floated a duck house in front of parliament. Since it was Guy Fawkes Night, we tried to set fire to it. We thought that given the large quantities of water surrounding the duck house this wouldn't be a problem. The Harbour Masters, who repeatedly tried to shut down our activities from the start, thought otherwise an...d obliterated our little construction with high-powered water hoses. So much for the right to protest!
