Kai Stinchcombe Interesting take on the need for tech-savvy lawmakers: http://tinyurl.com/wsj-tech-oped There was a case recently where a judge in PA on her own initiative did an investigation explaining mortgage-tracking software used by HSBC, because other judges ...wouldn't be able to understand the filings they were seeing in their courtrooms if they didn't understand the software. http://tinyurl.com/pa-hsbc-opinion

I see this all the time in RIAA and MPAA copyright cases.
The federal bench is behind the curve on a lot of this stuff.

Tax it back to the stone age. :) It stops being about protecting a personal choice when everyone else has to pay for that choice's poor health outcome. People still have the choice to drink all the Mountain Dew they want, but they should pay their fare share towards solving the problem they are creating.

If you tax it, after an agreed-upon monthly usage amount, then people will use less of it. Oh, and the state will probably generate more revenue for its budget. As you know, we already regulate how much water a household uses in a month.

How do you feel about Obama's health care form bill?

I would draft a bill to repeal DOMA and DADT. The Defense of Marriage Act simply denies people their rights on a federal level. I believe only Same-Sex marriages, and NOT Domestic Partnerships should be recognized by the feds for benefits, etc. . . Don't Ask Don't Tell is just a discriminatory joke and would not CO...ST money to implement. I want equality for ALL citizens. California had it right until Proposition 8 passed. I have faith that the people of CA will repeal the stain on our Constitution. If not in 2010, definately in 2012.Read More

I would change the way school districts are funded. Property taxes need to go into a general state fund and then be distributed evenly on a per capita basis. This would go a long way in creating equality of opportunity for our high school graduates.

Bad idea. Institutional memory is very important in government. Moving to a part time legislature along with term limits leave too much power in the hands of lobbyists.

Bad idea: part-time legislators would be even more subject to manipulation by full-time lobbyists and staff with their own agendas.
