Keep sending TJ's those emails... Just went to Florham Park TJ's and one of the employees said they just built a distribution center in Allenton PA. He said they are planning to open 30 more stores this year, so maybe they'll come out our way if a DC is so close by? They are opening one in Millburn at the old Whole Foods location. Not that Millburn is any closer than Westfield or Florham Park, though :(

Even better - get as many people as you can to fill out this form on TJ's website: http://www.traderjoes.com/location_requests_form.aspx

What a perfect idea! It's a prime location surrounded by progressive-minded communities. If I had the start-up cash, I'd launch it myself.

It's getting to where I don't care what goes in there, I'm sick of it being vacant.

With this, TJ has an opportunity to create a magnet for folks in Western NJ and Eastern PA.

Putting a Trader Joe's has long been my dream. Westfield and Florham Park are a bit of a hike, but always worth the journey. (LOL on the bank, too!)

Just moved to Clinton 2 weeks ago and having a Trader Joe's would make my life absolutely perfect!

love the comment about the bank :-)
My mom lives 5 minutes from a Trader Joe's in Long Island.
I stock up on my favorites every time I'm out there - but I've always thought the old ShopRite would make a great location for one.

Hey everyone -- I took the 40 minute ride out to the Westfield Trader Joe's this weekend. Great buys on so many gourmet & healthy items... but the wine selection & prices were outstanding. The 3 Buck Chuck is actually not too bad! We REALLY need this in Hunterdon County!!! Trader Joe's is really missing out by not tapping into our market. I would be there weekly if one were here.

The lease is about to expire. How about another bank. We really need more banks (just kidding)

I have been saying that for years, but, I think Shoprite still owns the building. I doubt they would allow it.

This video (just posted) is cute and spot-on with the storm trooper vibe the management gives out -- which is completely opposite to the organic, bohemian image they WANT to project... they are totally ruled by corporate mindset... at the end of the year, I tried to interview the manager of the Westfield store on what the most popular items had been in 2008, for a fun little article on the food pages! He was so paranoid and wouldn't speak to me, just referred me to their corporate offices in CA, who took 4 or 5 days to get back to me (AFTER my deadline) and then they said, no, I couldn't talk to the Westfield manager, all public comment is totally controlled by TJ's central and they don't give out any info on individual stores.
Too bad they have such good stuff but act like nazis.

Having a Trader Joe's or a Whole Foods would rock.
Laura wrote at 2:35pm on February 11th, 2009
I would love a Trader Joe's. I did write Whole Foods a while back about the same site which met the majority of their specs for new locations. I believe the main issue is that ShopRite still owns the space and will not rent to competitors. Whole Foods and Trader Joe's would cut into their market share especially for organic and speciality products. It's always worth a shot - Trader Joe's would be heavenly!
