I'm an Ottawa U student but I had to join this group. What the hell is up with the guy who suggested this happen? This is 'political correctness' gone mad. Besides that, his reasoning was completely inaccurate. And what was the student union thinking when they pushed it through? All it would take was one quick net search or a phone call to find out that their reasoning was false. But even if their reasoning was right - does that mean students at Carleton should also stop fundraising for anemia, diabetes type 2, or what about hunger? Hey hunger predominantly affects the African continent so why not? Or how about those gay clubs - don't they discriminate against the straight people out there?!? This is such a disgrace.
I'm an outsider (old guy) looking at Carleton and CUSA since you've managed to splash yourselves fantastically into the limelight like a horrific mass casualty traffic accident. You are doing the right thing trying to organize petitions and resignations etc. I just listened to an audio clip of Brittany trying to deflect the massive ( and I mean MASSIVE) backlash from not CU students but from Joe (or Jane) Q. Public. She is a bold face liar! She couldn't have handled it worse. And further, It's too late for an apology other than an apology to the student body. Don't try to apologize to the public. She F***ed it up this morning on CBC already trying to defend the "confusion" (her words) regarding the motion. An apology will be a pathetic whimper and laughed at by the masses (not CU individuals). It's now a private internal Carleton U problem and you will need several cans if not a entire flat of Whup-ass.
social democrats...I would call them closer to socialism...government should run everything to them ....they think money grows on trees or out of students pockets

Time for a constitutional convention. This is the dumbest move by social democrats since WW1 suckered them into nationalistic propaganda.
They say anything to get elected...most students don't follow up at the end of the year

Whatever happened to common sense?
Last year, at Western, there were students trying to get Canadian Blood Services banned from campus for its "man who has had sex with another man" refusal policy.
Carleton Prides strikes again. Just like the womens Rape Crisis centre with Zero accountability.
And to think, we voted these guys in

This whole issue was brought up to be more inclusive with a new charity because CF affects PRIMARILY Caucasians. Yet everyone is in an uproar because CF does affect Africans, Asians, and Hispanics as well. So if you look at it from the point of view as a white Caucasian, CUSA is being racist towards us by INVESTIGATING looking into a new, more all inclusive charity and not supporting Shinerama. So its reverse racism in the sense that by Donnie saying it affects only white males and getting CUSA to look at new charities, it's racist towards white people, and yet is racist at the same time towards all others

There's no such thing as reverse racism. Hating all white people 'cause they're "THE WHITE DEVIL OPPRESSOR!" is just racism.
I'm not in university but I did Shinerama for 4 years. I'm rather curious about the source of the (mis) information on who is affected by CF. Where did they get this (mis) information?

I can't make it tomorrow, but everyone needs to get out there.
I wonder if we can get James Pratt terminated thru petition signatures...

For those asking where Mackenzie Field is (for the rally tomorrow at noon):
Since when does a disease have to pass a Political Correctness test?!!!
Steve wrote at 3:19pm on November 26th, 2008
So I'm going to keep saying this until it dosn't need to be said anymore:
If you want to show the world CUSA doesn't speak for you, come rally and help us raise money for CF tomorrow (Thursday) at noon, Mackenzie field.
Let's stop whining, get off our asses, and do something positive!

Hey CUSA thanks for trying to better represent the student body. You got caught being quoted saying the wrong thing, it happens! I hope the reason why you changed charities was NOT for that reason quoted, and it was just a communication error made by a representative not thinking at the time. Being a Carleton student, and having contributed to CF before, I would not be apposed to helping out some other well deserving charity; but dont tell me its because the guy we are helping get treated isnt white!
Communication is so key in politics and I bet this was a big wake up call for you guys. Which is always a good thing to learn from your mistakes. On that note THANK YOU FOR SMOKING is like one of my favorite movies and if you guys need spin control at all, I am for hire! if you could afford me...lol
