PORTLAND — About 150 Portland public school employees are eligible for a proposed retirement incentive that will be considered by the School Committee on Wednesday night.
The proposal applies to teachers, educational technicians and other employees who have reached retirement age – 60 or 62, depending on when they entered the Maine Public Employee Retirement System – and have been in the system at least 25 years.
Employees would receive a one-time payment of $10,000, or annual payments to cover the cost of continued health benefits through Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maine until age 65, when full Medicare benefits start.

Carol Smith I love the morning show with Lee, Sharon, Kevin (who changed his schedule) Very comfortable and funny and informative. Great show!

Lisa Gregor Hi Cindy, Big fan of channel 6 News. It’s the only news I will watch. Last night I noticed you had a Designs by Lucinda Women Pin on. I work for Lucinda and just love what I do. To be able to help non-profits raise money and awareness is a great feeling. I get so many calls every day from people that have purchased a pin or received one as a gift and they just have to call to tell me what the pin means to them. I would like to invite you to join Designs by Lucinda’s fan page and tell us the story behind your pin. Life is about stories and Lucinda pins bring stories to life. Lisa

Donald N. Burdwood Jr. Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you for mentioning our Port. Firefighters plight. Great footage too! Just wish you had mentioned the fact that they have given up raises for the last three years, even before bad economy and down sized by a rescue truck but I can't have everything. Again, Thank you for bringing it to light. As always, you guys are the BEST.

Oscar Somerset As a New Hampshire outdoor photographer, I'd like to see a story on outdoor photography in Maine. Places where visitors would not not normally think to go. Maybe our friend Bill Green would do the honors for us.
