About the European Chamber Music Academy
The European Chamber Music Academy is a ‘talent factory’for ensembles with a special focus on string quartets and piano trios and is dedicated to promoting the tradition and d...evelopment of Europe’s rich and unique chamber heritage.
Founded in 2004 by Hatto Beyerle, long time violist with the Alban Berg Quartet, ECMA is now an association of institutions and festivals that together provide training for young chamber groups, bringing together young musicians from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures, and enabling them to work with the leading performers of our time.
Wigmore Hall is proud to play host to this initial series of three afternoon concerts launching an association between the Hall and ECMA. Five of the brightest young chamber ensembles will be showcased over the first weekend, and Hatto Beyerle himself will conduct a masterclass with the Galatea Quartet and Spain’s Quiroga Quartet.
