At the 36th Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival - Greensky Bluegrass was anointed one of the next jamgrass superstars. Honored with both a main stage set and the prestigious (and sold-out) Saturday NightGrass show at the Sheridan, Greensky proved that they are more than ready to hold the jamgrass torch. Since forming i...n the fall of 2000, Greensky has undergone a musical evolution as unique as the music it has produced. As newcomers to the bluegrass scene, GSBG sought to define themselves within the framework of their bluegrass favorites while establishing a voice of their own, drawing upon an array of influences and varied musical backgrounds. In 2006, the band won the Telluride band contest (a title they now share with Nickel Creek and the Dixie Chicks, among many others).

Jambase describes their "new acoustic roots" music as "timeless without being strictly confined, current without sacrificing a compelling old-soul timbre – killer Springsteen covers and all." We're thrilled to welcome this exciting band to Lyons for their long-awaited Wildflower debut.

Two of bluegrass music's most gifted and adept players (and long-time veterans of Telluride Bluegrass and RockyGrass), perform a sparkling set of traditional and original duets. John Hartford once said that Mike Compton knows more about Bill Monroe style mandolin than the Father of Bluegrass himself. Mike has earned mu...ltiple Grammy awards as a member of the Nashville Bluegrass Band and through his involvement with the "O Brother Where Art Thou" album and tour. Three-time IBMA guitar player of the year, David Grier is widely admired as one of the all-time great flatpick guitarists. A member of numerous groups including Psychograss, David has earned two Grammy awards and released several critically acclaimed solo CDs. Since Mike and David's 1991 recording Climbing the Walls, they have occasionally come together for intimate sets of duets.

WPA is an expandable collective, with Luke Bulla (Lyle Lovett), Sean Watkins (Nickel Creek) and Glen Phillips (Toad the Wet Sprocket) at its core. Convening the entire collective - Sara Watkins (Nickel Creek), Benmont Tench (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers), Greg Leisz (Bill Frisell, Joni Mitchell), Pete Thomas (Elvis ...Costello and the Imposters), and Davey Faragher (Cracker, the Imposters) - WPA recorded 17 songs in 5 days. Now, with a wonderful record reminiscent of “more than the sum of its parts” groups such as Fleetwood Mac, The Band, and CSNY, the founding members of WPA (Glen, Luke, and Sean) are rallying the troops for a cross-country excursion. After making their festival debut at Telluride Bluegrass 2009, we are thrilled to welcome them to the Wildflower Pavilion for their Lyons debut.

Old school but never old, Boulder Acoustic Society is the new wave of American roots music. It’s what happens when four songwriters get together to mash up blues, folk, gospel, indie and world music to soothe their musical curiosity. B.A.S.'s music is intense and exciting for listeners, with something new and interest...ing at every turn. The unique lineup of violin, accordion, bass and percussion support sharp vocal hooks and powerful grooves. The energy that B.A.S. brings to a stage can tip a festival into overdrive or mesmerize a club audience as they dance into the wee hours. All of this comes from four guys who wear vintage clothes, savor small batch bourbon and rock the ukulele.

Gregory Alan Isakov has been described by Boulder Weekly as "Strong, subtle, a lyrical genius" and has been compared to his influences, Bruce Springsteen, Kelly Joe Phelps, Iron & Wine and Gillian Welch. Gregory's humble presence and his overwhelming voice and guitar style has been treasured by an ever-growing and captivated fan base. Gregory Alan Isakov's song-craft lends to the deepest lyrical masterpieces, and his live performance has been known to quiet and shake the biggest rooms. Gregory won the Telluride Troubadour contest at the 2007 Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and he has performed at both the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival and the Wildflower Concert Series in Lyons.

We call it MAY'-bahn. The Autumnal Equinox. Myrrh and Sage. Acorns, gourds, and pumpkins. One final celebration of song, dance, summer, and festivation to celebrate the magical time when the day and the night are divided equally. Once again we're thrilled to welcome two of our favorite musicians from one of the most vi...tal bands in acoustic music, to help us prepare for the coming months of rest, relaxation, and reflection. Whether trading vocals on some of the most beloved songs in the YMSB catalog (including some not often heard these days), covering a broad swath of traditional music from Celtic to Americana, or trading leads on guitar, banjo, bouzouki, and mandolin this will be a show befitting the summer's delicate finale. Last year's show was the stuff of legend - including a final set of songs completely-acoustic (no mics, no plugs).

This year they'll be joined by special guest Elmo Otto. Don't miss another magical chapter in the Mabon celebration.

In its three years, the Wildflower has never hosted anything like this... An "11-member infectiously joyous gypsy-folk carnival" (LA Times); "echoes of the Arcade Fire and the Mamas and the Papas" (Rolling Stone); "a freewheeling celebration rooted in unmistakable affection" (NPR); "one of America's most intriguing new... bands" (World Cafe).

These uber-hot joy-leaders of the LA folk-rock revival are simply the most energetic dance-frenzy-inducing band we've seen in years.

Recently named one of the 5 Bands to Watch in 2009 by Rolling Stone Magazine, this Wildflower show will be their Colorado debut, a night before they play Red Rocks. Their debut full-length Up From Below showcases a deeply personal musical vision shared by a closely knit community of musicians. Trust us: you will forever kick yourself if you miss this show. Get tickets for yourself and all your friends - and maybe a couple for their friends. It's going to be that kind of night.
