I just arrived back in Addis at the end of a very successful UNFPA delegate trip. On the subject of Ethiopia - much more when I get back, but, suffice it to say, the mountains of Ethiopia are the most beautiful on the planet. And believe me, I make no exaggeration...

When Beckett Bejan accidently left his loving teddy ‘Beary’ behind on their Wildland Adventure in the Amazon of Peru, one of our crack guides recovered him from the jungle. The girls of the office in Cusco kept his spirits up until we could find space in a suitcase to bring him home. Last week Wildland President Kurt K...utay, met up with our Peru Director Alfredo Ferreyros in Quebec, Canada and brought ‘Beary’ back home to Seattle. “Beary is a great travel companion. He’s so excited to see Beckett!”, recounts Kurt.Read More

We know you will enjoy reading about the Rosenfeld Botswana family adventure: We just returned from our incredible adventure in Botswana. Everything couldn’t have gone smoother and we highly commend everyone there for their professionalism and commitment to conservation in Botswana. The other family was a carbon cop...y of ours and all the kids got along famously. The guides and the camp staff enjoyed the fun with the teenagers (I will have to send you photos of our experience at Mokoro Trails teaching the Polers how to juggle oranges and playing keep away during a swim. I don’t know who had more fun, our kids or the camp “kids”.) In addition to sightings of lion, leopard up a tree with a kill in Linyanti, wild dogs, elephants, giraffe, etc., we recorded 175 different species of birds. The two families have the photos to prove it! We never went more than 3 hours without being fed!! Also, Wildland did a great job at making sure we were well prepared. We knew what to bring, how much to tip and what to expect. Thank you for suggesting the layers for the cold weather- it was 42 degrees some mornings when we got up but they always kept us warm and toasty. It was just an amazing experience that we will never forget.Read More

From the Adventure Travel World Summit in the Charlevoix region of Quebec: It has been a great week in snowy Quebec. Today at breakfast, from our hotel perched above the St. Lawrence River, we spotted several beautiful beluga whales surfacing just off the coast. What an incredible and majestic site! We’ve been meeting ...with some great outfitters and guides from over 50 countries, including India, China and SE Asia as well as some of our (and your!) favorites (like Alper from Turkey). We've been encouraged by the discussion and collaboration around sustainable, locally beneficial and culturally sensitive travel. The cultural heritage preservationist from Kurdistan region of Iraq spoke passionately about her country's nearly undiscovered and undisturbed archaeological treasures and the opportunity that we as travelers have to help protect their cultural assets. Wildland's Ethiopia trip (http://www.wildland.com/trips/africa/eth iopia.aspx) is one such emerging destination where travel can help to encourage conservation and preservation. The conference concludes today and then back to Seattle. Have a wonderful weekend! Wild Regards, Kurt and TadRead More

Greg is back from a whirlwind adventure in Chile and Argentina: "I am back to the Northwest and experiencing culture shock after being in some of the most beautiful, untouched, and "Wild' places in the world. I am getting used to speaking in English again. I will keep saying "good morning", "good afternoon", and "good ...evening" when I greet people here just because it's a nice formality. It gives you a minute to greet a stranger in a relaxed way by not just jumping into what you need or want from them. I will try to retain some of the pleasant and relaxed demeanor that so many of the people I met in Chile and Argentina exuded. It was very refreshing to see people surrounded by raw nature, that were so calm and happy to help in any way they could. I will post some photos of whales and elephant seals tomorrow. Good afternoon."Read More

Merhaba! Nat and Gail Bender just returned from an exciting 16 day adventure exploring the ancient land and seas of Turkey and Greece. Nat says, "This is one of the top trips I have taken in a lifetime of travel and Wildland's organization of it was superb! Every day was a delight whether on land or aboard our boat.... The food everywhere was wonderful. Our guide was one of the nicest people I have ever met. Her breadth of knowledge leaves one breathless. I was near tears when we had to say our goodbyes.
