"Willoughby is a quiet band — but "quiet" as in the old saw about watching out for the quiet ones. Their tintinnabulating melodies have both a Brit-pop, downtempo optimism and an intriguing speakeasy manner, tempered with the dusty funkiness of a saloon band. Onstage, their winsome live presence — crafted from dreamy, salty balladeering, starry percussion, and gently swaying rhythm guitar — will spirit you away” Flavorpill
With I Know What You're Up To almost ready for it's official North American release on September 30, 2008, reviews are starting to come in for the album. This week Blender gave it a really great review dubbing the sound "spy rock," while CMJ have featured the band as their Free-Load - and you can download Story from them. Elsewhere, mel.opho.be posted a review of the album ("A tea party amongst estranged friends"), along with a couple of cool shots of Gus from the recent Seattle show.
Reviews can be found on the Press page here: http://press.willoughbyrecordings.com
Over on the Photos page (http://photos.willoughbyrecordings.com), we have posted a new slideshow of photos from The Triple Door in Seattle, taken by our friend Jim Bennett.
Willoughby have a number of East Coast shows coming up - see http://www.willoughbyrecordings.com for full details and ticket information.
