Windblown Cross Country Skiing

I have been backcountry skiing for over 30 years. Been skiing Windblown since 85, often off piste (i.e. off the east side drop and straight down though the trees near the zig zag) Frequently I ski Kidder Mt. Usually ski up and down, but sometimes snow shoe up and ski down.

I highly recommend waxless skis with steel edges; preferably with ... Read Moresingle camber or 1 and a half camber. They do not glide as well on packed trails, but sure turn a lot better. I ski Black Diamond, but have also skied Fishers. Yes, take lessons; check out AMC and the North American Telemark Organization.

Learn an IRON CLAD snow plow, and all things are possible. Get stiff boots.

Windblown Cross Country Skiing It snowed all day Sunday Oct. 18th. Monday we woke up to a clear sky and a magical world with 4 inches of snow weighting down the leaf laden oaks.

Windblown Cross Country Skiing If you ever don't believe us when we say it often snows here when only three miles down the road it's raining - well just have a look. It's been snowing all day here and I just measured 1 3/4" ! It's a real Nor'easter in October!
