Wingra School Wingra Students visited the James Watrous Gallery on October 20 to tour the exhibition, The Fine Art of Children's Book Illustration, and then the students made sketches to create their own books. See the pictures on the Wisconsin Academy of Services, Arts and Letter Facebook page.

John was a valued coworker and friend of mine for almost 21 years. I first connected with him talking about woodworking. He could build anything, from bookcases to cabinets to walls with sliding doors connecting classrooms - his skill is evident throughout Wingra School. Then I got to appreciate his sense of humor, particularly his infamous signs warning us to stay out of certain rooms once he started working on the floors in the summer. One of his last projects was redoing the storage in the 2nd floor bathroom - I quote his sign:

"To Those Who Seek To Enter Herein . . . Don't . . . Many Treasures Are Stored Within (Oh Maltese Falcon, Mendenhall Match, Gold Foos) . . . So, We Wish To Safeguard These Gems More Securely - Many Toil To Revamp The Less Vamped - Give Them Pause . . . Do Not Enter . . . Thank You, Prof. Plum"

I will miss John more than I can say.... Read More
