Very true!
Jeremy at 8:38am May 26
I really hope this article's prediction comes true. Sounds inspiring. My only beef is the comment on why large companies take on more debt - it has more to do with leveraging basic earning power to get higher financial returns during good times (and taking on more risk in the process). So the financial reasoning about debt may not be correct, but I still hope his article's conclusion comes true. Small businesses are so much cooler.
Christopher at 10:02pm June 5
If this is indeed the trend then I think we are getting a glimpse of the early workings of a really really free market (just as when I was losing faith in it), one that is driven by genuine entrepreneurship and innovation rather than sheer accumulation of profit! Now that is real progress and economic development, so long giant conglomerate!
I think we also ought to reexamine long-held concepts on accounting, profit generation and economic growth/prosperity.
