I've heard some complaints from friends that miss the classical. My guess is that they either don't support WMFE financially or, if they are members, didn't specify classical when they renewed.

so far i'm enjoying all the new programs except the diane rehm show - what an annoying voice that lady has. tried listening to her show two days in a row and both times had to turn it off. and she's on every weekday. yeeks! isn't there a better program choice for that time slot?

I started supporting WMFE many years ago, mainly because of the classical music. Now, instead of Sunday Baroque, there's someone blathering on about chairs. Whoopee! If you want my continued support, please bring back the music (and Dave Blarum, would be nice!)

Cami Wishes you would keep Sunday Baroque. Do we need to hear Prairie Home Companion and Car talk two days in a row? Or Echoes twice?

---> Yoon Chung: I never could listen to Echoes or Hearts of Space, while driving or not. I wish those shows had gone the way of classical, but understand why they didn't. As for me, when those shows would come on, I would switch stations. I just never have cared for them.

When they made the announcement on Friday, they stated that the news programming had become more popular while the classical had become less so. I took this to mean that they were getting more donations and requests for news programming from contributing members. Face it, the station made the decision to change the formate based on where the ... See Moremoney was coming from. I feel they DID listen to their supporters. They wouldn't give up a source of revenue during these difficult financial times. They went with the money making programming.

Cathy: I understand WMFE changing formats to please the demographic that donated more, but it would have been more ethical to announce the format change in advance of the pledge drive, since rumors of the classical cut were already circulating at that time. I know a lot of classical supporters who feel conned--and if news fans are really WMFE's bread and butter, wouldn't they have been more likely to donate on the promise of more news?
