EmilyAnn Ruthven Hi, I am not having the best of luck getting in contact with an officer recruiter. I have spoke with an enlisted recruiter and talked about my options and they said that I would make a likely candidate but getting in touch with an officer is impossible. Does anyone have any tips or ideas or some encouraging words to he...lp me out? I feel like a sitting duck and I’m one that likes to have answers and get things done LOL! Just frustrated and feel like I’m hitting a brick wall. Been trying to decide between the Air Force and Navy and looking into being a pilot. Been working with the Air Force for 6 months and no luck with an officer there and now with the Navy for over a month. Just doesn't seem like it should be this hard. What do I need to do?

call your closest base and see if they have a naval officer recruiter. or look in the phone book. or ask your recruiter for a different number for the officer recruiter.

Ok, I'm betting you've tried this, but just to cover all the bases... on navy.com at the top it has 'find a recruiter', you enter your zip code & you get the location of the enlisted office.. but you also get an 800 number for an officer recruiter after that (& it's not a universal #, I've plugged in the various zips I've lived at in OH, CT & IN & ... See Morethey all have different #s). Now, beyond getting the number, I really don't know what happens, like if you get a live person, an answering machine, etc, so this # may not get you real far either :\
And... if you've already done this, well, guess it's here for anyone else with the same question. :)

well, I went through the website first. After not hearing back immediately (I'm impatient lol) I started looking into the different bases to find the individual offices. I just did a keyword search on google and it turned up different numbers. I called many of these and left messages. Finally I got my boyfriend who's a naval officer to take me ... See Moreon a base and very politely asked to see a recruiter without an appointment. So if you know anyone who's in the Navy, that might be a good option. A week or two later, the recruiters at the numbers I called finally called me back, about a month later, someone called me in response to my inquiry on the website. So if you have access to a base through a friend, try that. If not, just be patient. Someone will get back to you but officer recruiters are pretty swamped right now, so it might take a while. :-/ Don't give up though! If you really want it, keep at it! And don't let an enlisted recruiter convince you to sign up now and become an officer once you're in. If you're going to go officer, do it from the beginning. Also, take everything your recruiter says with a grain of salt. They can be like car salesmen sometimes. Their main goal is to get you to sign up, or to sign up for a position that they need to fill to meet a quota, which may not be in YOUR best interest.

LucasandRebecca Marcum Well ladies, I have officially lost all the weight and inches that I have to. I measure in for the last time at my recruiter's office on Dec. 2nd. I should be going to MEPS on Dec. 7th and leaving soon! I'm so excited. I am kinda curious though, I'm 23 years old and I have the chicken pox for the third time. Will that stop me from going to MEPS?

it may. have you gone to the doctors for meds. you should call your recruiter and see if you have to reschedule. you do not want to go in there if something is wrong for them to only put this on your record not that its a bad thing of course.

Tanya Rullan i am currently in high school and im a freshmen in afjrotc. im not sure if i should join the navy or the air force, but im mostly drawn to the navy and people are telling me that its too dangerous to join the military life style and that a girl like me wont stand a chance, but i want to prove them wrong. i want to join ...so i can learn to have self confidence and leadership. but if i do join the navy i dont know if i should do Aircraft carrier, be in the submarine area, or just be on the flight deck fueling aircrafts. any advice for a confused freshmen airman?

stay with your rotc program! it will get you advance right away in any of the military branches that you join! so stick with it! as far as showing them up! of course you can! and you should take the asvab to see your area that you score in to see which jobs you will be offered and then look into those. or if you dont like them study more and take it again.

Have you thought about college? If you stick with ROTC you can get an ROTC scholarship for a four year university and go into the military as an officer which means better pay and privileges among many other things. Officers are also given more responsibility, and they train you to be a leader, which is something you say you want. Check it out!

... See MoreAs far as what field you should go into, idk, but don't give up! You can do anything you set your mind to if you are willing to put in the work for it girl!

It stands for Naval Reserve Officers' Training Corps. It is a college based program that commissions officers into the US Naval Reserve. It provides a number of scholarship and contract based benefits that can pay for two or more years of college. There is also the NROTC Jr. program used in High Schools.

Reserve Officer Training Corps- It trains officer for duty in the Army. Upon graduation from Army ROTC, you will earn the bar of a Second Lieutenant and be commissioned into the Active Army, Army Reserve or Army National Guard. The other branches have their own types: AFROTC is Air Force Reserve Officer Training Crops.NJROTC is Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, which provides both Navy and Marine Corps Reserve Officers.

Kelly Hoping to join the navy soon. I'm currently working on getting into shape got about 15-20 lbs to lose before I can but the recruiter said that I may consider "taping" becuase I have large breast (he said it a little more PC of course). Has anyone else done this? If so can you tell me what the calculation is? He said ...it was Hip+Waist (just below breast??)-Neck does this sound correct? I just want to keep track of my progress so I know when I'm ready to measure for real.

Add your waist and hip measurements together and subtract your neck measurement. That will give you a number normally around 65ish. If you're under 68, you're good to go. Otherwise, go to this website and type the numbers it. It will do the work for you. http://www.webcalcsolutions.com/Fitness-Calculators/Body-Fat-Navy.asp?AcctNum=3

Veronica West Hi. I wana join the navy after high school. Im currently a junior. But I still want to attend college though. Do they have any programs for that? Also, my fianc'ee is a high school senior and is already joining the navy upon graduation. When we both join and are officially part of the navy, will they allow us to live together and do they pay for living cost?

like Kelly said, look at NROTC. If you want to go to college, that is, in my opinion, the BEST option. If you get a NROTC scholarship, you can attend a four year university paid for by the Navy. Upon graduation, you have a guaranteed job in the Navy as an officer. As an officer you receive better pay and you are in a leadership position. And ... See Morejust think--no student loan bills! geeze I wish i had that!!! lol. There are other ways to attend school, but they aren't optimal choices. You can enlist and then attend classes, probably online. However, keep in mind that you would have a full time job while you are taking those classes, and thus couldn't fully concentrate on school, and it will probably take you longer than four years to get a degree. Also, if you enlist and then get a college degree, it's hard to move from enlisted to officer. It would be much better to be able to attend college as a full time student through NROTC, graduate in four years, and then become an officer.
