Karen Lynch Williams Nothing says "I love you" like opening a present from my husband and finding a right-angle clamp and large face clamp... he does love me! Teases me all the time that "most wives want diamonds but I'm happier with a woodworking tool or something for my barn. Ya'll have a Merry Christmas!

WOOD Magazine Nix inaccurate fence with hardboard template.

bit.ly
When making cuts with a portable circular saw, setting the distance from the straightedge to the edge of the baseplate often takes time and multiple measurements. To simplify this procedure, rip a hardboard ...

WOOD Magazine Build an adjustable, miter-gauge fence.

bit.ly
Most auxiliary fences that bolt to a miter gauge eventually start to look pretty ragged. If you use one for mitering, beveling, dadoing, and such, you eventually wind up with big chunks missing.

Tony Olsen

Tony Olsen I was looking for an outfeed roller to replace one that the roller broke on. I like the Ridgid style of a flat plate, as the roller always wants to track the board to one side or the other. I built this one and put it on the old stand.

I built the tablesaw this sled. The sled measures 24×24”. The front and rear fence are 1” thick (two pieces of ½” plywood laminated face to face) and 3” high. The fences are glued to the top of the ½”-thick plywood base. The back fe...

WOOD Magazine Dowel stock can serve as blade guides for precision sawing.

bit.ly
While working on a project that required precision sawing, I discovered that the fiber blade guides on my bandsaw were shot. Unable to find new guides locally and unwilling to wait a week for mail-order delivery, I looked for a temporary solution in my shop. The answer was in my dowel stock.

I just cut some square guides from a piece of hard maple scrap I had laying around for mine.

Thanks for mentioning the scrollsaw work entered in the Show Off contest. There are a lot of excellent scrollers in the Chicago area. I just hope that my entry was a sample of the work being done here.

WOOD Magazine For quick-draw blade retrieval, try this scrollsaw bandolier.

Most hot-shot scrollsawyers don't waste time changing blades. And this storage strip puts the blades close at hand, yet secure and out of the way.

Can throw away a lot of over sized biscuits for $159.00.
In fact, in 20 some years don't think I have even purchased that may biscuits in the first place, including the Roybi R's. Never meet one so over sized that a $3.00 plastic/rubber tipped hammer would not handle. Make a driving jig by cutting slot, not quite as deep as 1/2 the distance of... See More the biscuit, oversize the slot slightly w/a rotary tool bit.
But I agree w/most of the assessments , keep in an air tight container, add a moisture absorbing devices found in aspirin, other medicines. In fact, I use those in just about everything I can where the item is in some form of air tight or semi-air tight container.

Now you put a compressed biscuit into the slot in your plywood and it expands and creats a visible bump on th outside of the veneer that shows up instantly when you try to pain or varnish it.
Really nice for table surfaces!
Toss the bad ones - they are pennies!
