The AP’s Economic Stress Index calculates a score from 1 to 100, based on unemployment, foreclosure and bankruptcy rates. Nebraska ranked 5.71 in September, after North Dakota (4.07) and South Dakota (5.01).

Recently I read that fewer residents are leaving Nebraska. The article said we lost more residents to other states than we gained in 2008 and that this has been the trend for the past 13 years. It went on to state that in 2008 the rate of departure from Nebraska to other states significantly slowed....
