The fact that War on Want have also been barred points to this being about excluding anyone who might have the guts to be overtly critical - look how Brown squirmed when Nick Robinson asked a difficult question.

WDM were also banned by the Singapore authorities from the Annual meetings of the IMF and World Bank a few years ago to avoid the organisation embarrassing them by being too critical and effective with the media.

As I recall when I worked for WDM, Tony Blair also tried to ban Benedict from a meeting in Downing Street after the organisation pulled no punches in its criticism of the outcomes of the Gleneagles G8 - all of which have been proved correct. The other development groups stood up to be counted in support of WDM at that time, and Blair backed down. I hope the others will do the same again.... See More

This has made me very angry, and I will be putting a cheque in the post to help WDM's work as a result.
