The Philosophy of Liberty

Well, the video is kind of rudimentary. It's not the end-all, be-all of the philosophy of liberty. Even if someone steals your car, you are still the rightful owner of the car. When the video says "you own your life", it really is saying that you are the rightful owner of your life. If someone "steals" your life, that still doesn't make them the "owner" of your life. Rather, it means they are violating YOUR ownership of it, just like the car thief violates your ownership of the car.

I completely agree with Brian, and James makes a good analogy. Kenny, your primary concern is that the slaves of the world might be insulted? You make it sound like slaves are a proud people who are perhaps where they want to be in life. I hardly think someone whose personal freedom was stolen from them in the form of slavery would be offended to hear that their "master" does not have a rightful claim on their life. Someone who voluntarily submits to slavery would be an exception.

Edward, many of us have read and subscribe to such philosophies. Unfortunately, we're not the ones in power.

Nor the number of guns, if there's half as many guns in Australia per capita wouldn't you need to consider that. You also don't bother to look up the number of bank robberies in both places where actual guns were used. Don't other social factors have an influence? such as gambling and illegal immigration. You were right about one thing though...the TINY bit of education part. The facts are that the first thing an authoritarian tyrant does is DISARM the general population, and its not intended to lower the rate of bank robberies.

My comment also goes out to Tim FACTS Miller who also does nothing to relate gun control with fewer bank robberies or this so-called "freedom from danger" Kenny dreamed up. Why should anyone have to "prove him wrong" on an admittedly unsubstantiated statement? The FACT is absolute gun control=absolute tyranny.
