During the 46th Presidential Inauguration, American flags were proudly displayed on the National Mall. 56 of those flags now reside in the homes of the grieving families of America’s fallen military heroes from all 50 states, and six territories. A collection of photographs of these families and their flags were presented to the President and me on Memorial Day. During #GoldStarFamilies Remembrance Week we will share the stories of those brave fallen service members and their families who honor their legacies. We are grateful for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) for sharing these beautiful images, and remain forever grateful to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice to our nation.
