RETIREMENT IS REAL
"Be positive and accept that retiremnet is real" ...says CEC Public Service Management Dr. Janet Manyasi. She said this during a pre- retirement training for employees who are to retire in 2019/2020 Financial Year at Breeze hotel in Busia.
The training is aimed at equipping the employees with proper planning financially and socially upon retirement.

BUSIA EDUCATION DEPT GETS THUMBS UP FROM ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE CHAIR
Th...e County Assembly of Busia Education committee chairperson Novena Ndaliro has lauded the department of education for rolling out ambitious programs to benefit the youths advance their education careers.
The committee boss said the department deserves a pat on the back for employing over 900 teachers that has seen two teachers deployed to each of the county's public schools.
" The department has gone ahead to change the terms of the 439 first cohort of teachers from contractual to permanent and pensionable terms, this is no mean achievement," she said, urging the department to expedite the issuance of the appointment letters.
Apart from employing the teachers, Ms Ndaliro said the department also undertook the provision of books and chairs. This is a noble idea which has impacted positively on the learners.
That aside, I am also happy to note that the department in the 2018/2019 financial year availed scholarship to students undertaking studies in specialized courses like Medicine, Engineering and law where 33 students benefited
The department rolled out revolving fund to the tune of Sh14m where 500 students benefited. The Sh2.5m Afya Elimu meant for students from the county undertaking courses at Kenya Medical Training Centres which saw 300 students benefit," she said.
Hon Ndaliro said there is need to speed up the passage of the ECDE and Vocational Training Centre Bills that will give timelines on bursary issuance to coincide with opening of schools.
The chair said there is urgent need to include co-curriculum activities for ECDE learners in the budget, telling the cabinet that the buck stops with them.
She said having a technical person attached to the department of education to help on technical issues is inevitable.
