We were at the 136th Airlift Wing for the retirement party of SSgt. Heather Powell. My family was amazed at how smoothly the entire process went, from the greeting at the front gate, our escort to th...e facility (He was extremely nice and informative about the base), to the way the ceremony was handled!! Thank you all for your service!!!!!! See More

We were told that the pass & ID system was down and they didn't have any time it would be back up. I stopped at the wing headquarters and the nice msgt tried to get on and lo and behold she was able t...o get our ID's done. What a relief to get this accomplished after driving over 70 miles. I rely on the Air Force to get things done! 🇺🇸 See More

136AW's very own "Spirit of Texas" tail 85-1361 conducted its final flight before retirement on January 31, 2018.

However, 61 will remain on Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base as a static display and a totem of our unit's heritage for years to come.

Nulli Secundus!

Former Commander of the 136th Airlift Wing, recently retired Colonel George W. Holt Jr., conducted his "fini" flight Thursday, December 28, 2017. This was the final flight of his 33-year career.

He will be sorely missed but he left the 136AW in great hands. Enjoy your retirement sir!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!! What better way to give back during the holiday season than to provide a gift of hope and love? Check out how members of the 136th supported children around the world with Operation Christmas Child 2017.

Congratulations to Staff Sgt. Kristina Overton, a photojournalist with our 136th Airlift Wing Public Affairs Office, for her upcoming graduation from the University of North Texas!

GREAT GRADUATE: Kristina Overton knows firsthand that college “doesn’t have to be on a specific timeline.” Kristina graduated from high school in Japan, where h...er father was stationed in the United States Air Force. She began college in the late 2000s, but left after 3 years. In March 2009, Kristina followed her father into the Air Force, and promised her mother that she’d get a degree someday.

It took almost nine years. Next weekend, she's graduating with her bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies.

In summer 2016, she left active duty with the rank of staff sergeant. She’s now the public affairs specialist for the Texas Air National Guard.

At UNT, Kristina helped with two productions for the UNT Department of Communication Studies Black Box Theatre and served as vice president of the Enlisted Advisory Council and vice president of the communication studies honor society UNT Lambda Pi Eta.

Now, she's going beyond her mom’s dream of a bachelor’s degree and is staying at UNT for graduate school. In January, she’ll begin work on her MBA in the University of North Texas College of Business, with plans to open a public relations firm serving small businesses. Congratulations, Kristina! You make us #UNTproud!

High flying Christmas party. Santa spent Sunday afternoon with the children and families of the Texas Air National Guard to spread some early Christmas joy. Members of the 136th Air Wing of TXANG spend a lot of time away from their families flying C-130's around the world helping to protect our freedoms and carry supplies to victims of catastrophes like hurricanes. This Santa party was a chance for them to spend some quality time with their children. For Santa (Dr. Don Shelton), this was his 17th year visiting the 136th, but for the hundreds of children who sat on his lap and left with a Christmas present, it was just some high flyin' fun. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped make this party possible.

The 136th Airlift Wing invited spouses to join us on a C-130 flight Friday, Nov. 17th.

We showed our appreciation for their support by letting them experience some of the capabilities their significant others provide to the unit.

136AW members went above and beyond to give back to one of our own after his many sacrifices for his state and country.
