Best paragraph I've read in a long time...

See, with this new study showing what seems to be metabolic damage, we now also see why science-heavy coaches are so easy to despise. Because they have all the ...same ulterior motivations that their pseudoscience brethren do, or have been accused of having, rather than any intense desire for Truth. Instead of getting excited about a new way to look at metabolism, they go on a rampage to bring normalcy and status quo back to the debate. Whether or not the study is good enough or flat out wrong isn't the question - it's their lack of pure childish scientific curiosity that has been exposed and that I'm cringing about, which makes this so vile.

Fuck Veterinary Medicine.
I always feel overly cynical by carrying around the amount of fierce disdain that I have for the Western Medicine Cartel. But I always have my suspicions beyond confirmed with every exposure. It can't be just me that this happens to.
Today I got taken by a Veterinarian, which could be the worst of the Western Medicine Cartel because their victims have no voices. Felt like I needed to take a shower afterward.

I was asked to summarize the 180DegreeHealth view on metabolism and weight loss yesterday. Here's what I wrote...
"Hard thing to summarize. I guess what it boils down to is that I believe that there is an epidemic of low metabolic rate, which I attribute mostly to factors within the first 2 years of life. A low metabolic rate results in a number of health problems, often including poor body composition (more fat, less muscle), and the typical response to these problems is di...etary restriction and/or increases in physical activity.
These changes lead to further decreases in metabolic rate, as they force the body below its weight set point. Forcing the body below its weight set point causes a big drop in metabolic rate, irrespective of body composition (whether thin or fat, losing fat lowers metabolic rate).
Doing so also has a tendency to raise the set point. The only way to bring the metabolism back to optimal is to achieve a calorie surplus and gain weight until the new, higher weight set point is reached or exceeded, at which point weight stabilizes (I call it "fat-proofing") and low metabolism-related symptoms improve or disappear altogether.
Continuing to eat a high caloric intake at or above the weight set point (and also emphasizing a surplus of sleep and relaxation), can result in a decrease in the weight set point over time, triggering a spontaneous loss of body fat without conscious attempts to restrict food intake or increase physical activity.
But it's still difficult to attain, because metabolism, stress levels, sleep quality and quantity, and other factors truly have to all be optimized to achieve it. And that's hard to do in today's society. It also becomes less likely the older one gets."
Ever think how strange it is that people who have hypoglycemia are told to avoid a food that raises blood sugar? Me too. I suspect the real problem in true hypoglycemia is a shortage of the hormones that raise blood sugar (the GLUCOcorticoids). What a concept!
Gain weight on a raw vegan diet? No problem! Just "FEAST" on only water for 9 days. It's spiritual! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3Gamw5c7HI

You can run from carbs, but you can't hide.
Eventually you'll get sick without them, have to return to eating them, and have an even more difficult time digesting and metabolizing them than you do now.
Over the last couple of years I have been working too hard, have been stressed, have hardly set foot out of doors, and my sleep has been erratic because of it. In response to this self abuse, I started having horrible reactions to eating lots of carbohydrates (feeling faint a...fter eating them was the worst).
Eating more "balanced" meals helped me feel better for a week or two at a time, and then I'd feel even worse. A shortage of carbs was just an added stress, even though it medicated my faintness issue temporarily.
The only way I could get the benefits from a very high-carb diet without the faintness was to, you guessed it, work less, sleep more, get outside, and reduce stress! Boom. Problem solved in 72 hours or so as long as I don't slip back into bad habits.
Funny though, as looking up the condition of feeling faint after eating (postprandial hypotension is one name it goes by) turned up a consistent recommendation by every source to "eat frequent, high-protein, low-carbohydrate meals."
That's because most of the health information world resides under a medication mindset. We medicate problems instead of fixing them. And medicating problems without addressing the cause almost invariably makes the root problem WORSE.
In other words, 9 out of 10 times that you look for a fix for a problem you're experiencing, you're going to get advised to follow a treatment that will make you fundamentally sicker.
This whole scenario is very similar to what "hypoglycemics" experience. Low-carb is a godsend for them at first, eliminating unstable energy levels and moods. Until months or years go by and the lack of carbs really catches up with them and they feel the worst they've ever felt (insomnia, low energy levels, depression, dry skin, constipation, sexual apathy, and so on).
If eating lots of carbs makes you feel shitty, and avoiding them makes you feel better, be careful about writing off carbohydrates. Carbohydrates don't make people sick--especially root vegetables, rice, and fruit.
Other causes screw up our carbohydrate metabolism, in turn framing carbohydrates as an enemy, when they are our greatest asset against more common causes of poor health, such as stress, lack of sleep, inflammation, lack of exercise, and a low metabolic rate.
You can run from carbs, but you can't hide. Eventually you're going to have to tackle the real causes of your health problems.
I literally just saw someone theorizing that bears develop insulin resistance from eating berries, and then lose fat during their winter torpor because the cold speeds up their metabolic rate (which it obviously doesn't). All the comments were positive. Our species is hopeless. Completely hopeless. I left a comment and people are already telling me I'm rude, lol. Here it is...
"They are actually insulin sensitive in late fall even after gaining all that fat. It's not until h...ibernation begins that they actually become insulin resistant. They basically become insulin resistant while fasting. Also, if they continue to eat berries and other quality-sources of energy, they won't go into hibernation. Oh, and they actually don't hibernate. They differ from hibernating animals. The state they go into is referred to as a torpor. There's no need to try to tell cute little stories about bears to try to use some kind of nature fallacy to justify a peculiar health fad. It makes people who don't know better think to themselves, "WOW! IT ALL MAKES SO MUCH SENSE!" When really it's just nonsense masquerading as deep thought."
