Greetings and Happy Tuesday Wine Lovers!
We have an interesting tasting lined up for you this week, with two wines that will be more familiar to most and two wines that have grapes that you may have never heard of before. So, for those of you who seek out new and interesting wines, tonight's tasting is for you.
First the whites -...
Ca N'Estruc Blanc 2015 - this white wine hails from the Catalunya (Catalonia) region of Spain. The wine is a Xarel-lo dominant field blend, with Chardonnay, Macabeo, Moscatel, Moscatel de Grano Menudo, and Muscat making up the remainder of the cepage.
Moris Farms Vermentino 2016 - I have enjoyed this wine for several vintages now, and you will too. This Vermentino is produced in the Maremma region (i.e., the Grosseto Province) of Tuscany in Italy. The wine is comprised of 90% Vermentino and 10% Viognier, giving nice aromatics. Moris Farms Vermentino is an excellent wine for an aperitif or with seafood and white meat dishes.
And, now the reds -
Jean-Claude Regnaudot et Fils "La Fussiere" 1er Cru - This is an excellent value for premier cru Burgundy - 100% Pinot Noir, of course. This wine is produced in the Maranges appellation. We have had a few bottlings from this producer, and they have been outstanding.
Domaine Giacometti Patrimonio Rouge "Cru des Agriate" 2015 - This wine hails from the French island of Corsica. The wine is predominantly Niellucciu (97%), with just a splash of Grenache (3%). This wine is aged on the lees for 10 months in stainless steel. It drinks exceptionally well and is definitely something you will want to try.
The tasting runs from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, and you are invited to stop by anytime in that window. There is no charge for the tasting, but, of course, I do hope that you will take a bottle or two from our cellars home with you!
Some of my favorite values for this week's tasting. Stop by and see what you think!
2015 Zilliken Riesling
2015 E. Guigal Cotes du Rhone Blanc...
2016 Porvenir "Cafayette" Malbec
2016 Triton Tinta de Toro
Happy Mardi Gras,
As is our tradition, 33 Wine Shop & Bar will be closed for Saint Louis' Mardi Gras celebration today. We will re-open at our normal time (3:30pm) on Tuesday.
This week's tasting is an all-Italian lineup and will feature four wines from various areas of Italy.
2016 Antonutti Pinot Grigio - this PG is from the Grave DOC in Friuli, which is in the Northeast part of Italy.
2014 Tenuta Pianirossi "Sidus" - this is a red blend from the Montecucco DOC in Tuscany. The wine is comprised of Sangiovese (60%) and Montepulciano (40%)....
2009 Casa Vinicola Casetta 'L Me Vin - this a an old traditional blend of Nebbiolo and Barbera with 9 years of age...drinks beautifully.
Manicardi Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro "Vigna Cà del Fiore" - a dry lambrusco...this is a gorgeous and different kind of sparkling wine!
Please join us tonight from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

Starting in the 1970s, the American wine industry has made quite an impact on the greater world of wine. Today, the United States is the fourth largest wine producing country in the world, and Napa Valley is widely recognized as on of the world's great wine regions.
After completing the End of Year inventory in the cellars at 33, the staff and I were amazed at our collection of great American labels. So....we decided to have a Great American Wine Sale!
This week, thru Frida...y, 33 will be offering accelerated discounting on your purchases of wine made in the good old USA.
1 bottle - 5% off
3 bottles - 10% off
