We're less than a week out from TRI AZ! Meet one of our athletes racing this weekend... Noah Hepner:
"I have an amazing story about an 11 year old boy who is racing in Sahuarita, to share...
Noah Hepner was diagnosed with Leukemia in August of 2015. The treatment is 3.5 years long. While still in treatment, he has competed in 7 triathlons, countless 5k's, a 30k relay and has special permission to compete in Ragnar Zion next month (the min. age is 12). Last year he won the Ch...ampionship Series in Phoenix. In June, he will be riding with the Great Cycle Challenge raising money for pediatric cancer research because he doesn't want other kids to have to go through what he has.
In TRI AZ, we will be doing our first "family" relay triathlon where he will bring the team up with the 5k run. (He cannot swim in open water due to his port-a-cath placement where the chemo goes). As of this writing, he has 235 days of treatment left. He is doing this all the while takes chemo pills every day (up to 54 pills a week), gets chemo in his port in his chest once a month, and chemo injected into his spine/brain every 3 months.
He recently said, "I do all of these things to show people that this disease didn't make me weaker but made me stronger!"
HE IS A REAL-LIFE SUPERHERO!
