(We apologize if you have already received this but wanted to make sure everyone was contacted) Update: We are grieving over the tragic loss of 17 year old Jare...d Valentine. Visitation will be this Tuesday at the church from 1-5 and a service at 5. We will have a dinner following. Contact Teresa Passuello for more details. We want to reach out to Max and Jamie during this horrific time. We will be taking a special love offering for them Sunday morning to express our love and support ---- Pastor James D. Clark.
The shootings at the Parkland, Florida school was truly a tragedy. It reminds us that we live in a dangerous society where none of us seem to be exempt from th...e malicious and aggressive acts of renegade members of our culture.
There is plenty of blame to go around, and there is no shortage of people who are ready to take aim at everyone but themselves. Let's just think about it for a moment. What has our society done to either encourage or discourage such action?
We have kicked God out of our schools and out of government. We have enabled the killing of innocent unborn infants through abortion. We have worked to destroy the true meaning of family and marriage. We have produced movies and video games that show how easy it is to kill large numbers of people without regard for who they are or the consequences of killing them. We have grown in our hatred for others who disagree with our political agendas. We have raised a generation of young people who want to rid their lives of anything that gives them stress or anxiety. We promote socialistic principles that destroy initiative. We have set aside moral standards that keeps us from taking advantage of others. We ridicule things such as prayer, righteousness, heaven and hell. What possibly could go wrong?
There was an article in the Chicago Tribune several years back that told the story of a young man who committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in the back yard of his home. He left a note that read: "This tree is the only thing in my life that has roots!" What kind of a foundation are we providing for our young people today? What positive things are we doing that will give them meaning and purpose for their lives? What kind of values do we teach them? What kind of legacy are we leaving them?
Unless society changes, things are going to get worse, not better! We live in the most unrestricted land in the whole world, but unfortunately, we have used our freedom as a cloak for transgressions and sinful lifestyles. There is only one solution for sin - only one way to keep it from taking its morbid toll upon our lives. We must turn back to God! We must resolve to follow Jesus and accept the redemption that He offers through His sacrifice in our behalf. We cannot solve the sin problem on our own. No amount of political gobbledygook or law-making can save us. Time is running out and we must surrender to the only One with the solution.

Day 5 - 40 Day Journey… “It’s time for me to leave the bondage / complacency of my life and pursue God’s promise / purpose for my life!” Consumed…Do you know wh...o you are but more importantly…whose you are? God sent His judgment and plagues on the Egyptians but spared the Israelites. They obediently put blood on their doorposts, believing in God’s Word and salvation. Ask yourself… Do you know what it means to be a child of God? Do you know the intimacy of His presence and keeping power? You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people…called out of darkness into His marvelous light. For God so loved that He gave to you…be consumed with His love.
