I'm stopping in at The Monkey House in Berkeley on Saturday night to sing this song with my pal Ari Fellows-Mannion. Ari is one of those "Sweethearts of Art Motel" -the Ladies of Loretta Lynch, who will be joining me for my show May 2nd at ...Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse. Come on down! Also playing at TMH will be Laura Allen and Danny Allen: AKA High Diving Horses and one of my favorite songwrights, Ira Marlowe

Meer weergeven- Hey South Bay, Peninsula and dwellers of the Santa Cruz Mountains (I'm looking right at you, NEIL YOUNG). Saturday night, Belmont's own Mike Anderson and I are sharing an evening of song and... ok, mostly just song, with Claudia Russell and... her trusty sidekick Bruce Kaplan at The Woodshed in Los Gatos.
This is the very cool listening room/concert space run out of Keith Holland's Guitar Shop that you have heard so much about.
What's that? You haven't heard about it? You need to get out more often! Here's your chance!

- TONIGHT! I'm going to play a few of my songs with Gayle Lynn's band The Hired Hands, at Jeanie & Chuck's Free Range Friday wingding over at SF's intimate Velo Rouge.
J&C open with a set of who-knows-what -I always expect some Olde Timey or Bluegrass or old-school Trad Country from them but they're just as likely to bust out some Byrds, Beatles, Bach or Benson & Hedges as they are to live up to m...y uninformed set of assumptions. I'll play some guitar with them
Then there's two "tweener" sets.
Sylvie Simmons will entertain us with her ukulele, her sly wit, and her extensive store of anecdotes compiled by decades as a rock music writer.
and me, doing my Supercalifornographicextraalprecocious thing using Gayle's band for support. That's guaranteed to put a different spin on my stuff
Then Gayle takes over for a full set of her Gayle-ish goodness. I love her. She can be equally silly and soul-searching and has a band of crack musicians: Rick Elswit, Tom Drohan, Jon Mitguard, and Jeanine Richardson. Lucky me.
Btw: This this is COMPLETELY acoustic. No mics. No amps. No electric instruments. The one compromise these ideologues are willing to make is the use of electric lighting. So bring your indoor ears.

https://www.facebook.com/events/267781140037760 - A Message From The El Deora Department of Sports & Entertainment
The community of El Deora is proud to be the primary sponsor of Californographic Singer Maurice Tani, representing the United States of America in the upcoming Songwriter Gru...dge Match against "Der Engländer" PAUL GRIFFITHS this coming THURSDAY, DECEMBER 19th at San Francisco's THE LOST CHURCH. Billed as The Scrap On Capp, this event is set to be remembered as The Greatest Fight in History.
However, it is with profound regret that we must respond to some disturbing developments that have arisen in the weeks leading up to this event that have required adjustments to the format and, indeed, the very spirit of this historic match.
Originally proposed as a Mano-a-Mano, Kingsbury Rules match, both Griffiths' and Tani's management teams initially agreed to the single addition to the format of bassists SEAN SILVERMAN (Griffiths) and MIKE ANDERSON (Tani) in their respective corners for support.
However, in the past few days, it has come to light that the Griffiths camp is attempting to "stack the deck" by adding yet more support in the form of a ringer vocalist, PAT BREGANT and, possibly, even another instrumentalist, rumored to be a flautist (the sneakiest of all woodwind players).
Maurice Tani and The EDDS&E are very disappointed by this flagrant escalation of personnel. Having considered the options available -canceling the match, protesting the violation of the agreed upon format, or simply responding in kind -we have chosen the latter.
To that end, we are announcing the inclusion of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist PAM BRANDON to Tani's corner. An Englishwoman herself, Brandon will be familiar with all things Englishish, including Griffiths' weak spots, such as the notoriously stiff upper lip.
Maurice Tani: "Well, we obviously would have preferred a simple, clean fight as planned, but if this is the way he wants to play it, so be it. We'll level the field -any field. I've seen My Fair Lady and Wallace & Grommet. He can bring Doctor Watson, Col. Pickering and Gunga Din for all I care. But let's end this provocative escalation here. Let's stick to lyric and melody."

They will be joining me for my show at Starry Plough on 12/6. We'll be doing a program of new material, deep cuts and a batch of the darkly r...eimagined classic pop songs that I have included on the four 77 El Deora albums, but never perform. Bacharach, Harrison, Orbison, Berry, etc.. The rest of the band will be David Phillips on pedal steel and John Hanes on drums. I'm stoked.
