Today marks the 30th Anniversary of the '86 GT World Tour at Rockville BMX. I was 14 when I filmed this show and met my childhood idols. It was such a great day with all the fans, the Rockville family, and the GT/Dyno Team. I managed to shoot some rare video inside the showroom and behind closed doors with the team before the show. As you can see from the pics, I was granted access to the quarter pipe to film the main event. Everyone knows how great these guys are at riding, ...but I'll tell you they are some of the greatest friends you'll ever know. After the show Eddie took me into the trailer to talk and sign autographs. That day I was made a king, Thanks Eddie, Martin, Dino and Josh. Thanks to the fan submitted photos of the show you see here. Thanks to my grandmother Shirley(Gram) Marcom for renting that huge VHS camera for me to use.
Until the end of the month, all videos will ship out with Eddie and Martin's signature. Limited quantity available.
Hey, I've got some Rad news for you if you haven't heard. They're building Hell Track and you can ride it. Go meet Bill Allen, and those other guys Martin and Eddie. I'm sure there will be quite a few racers there too. Pretty sure Harry Leary will be there, and I'm thinking Tommy Brackens and Mike Buff might stop by as well. I hope to make this one myself, check out Bill's video here and I'll keep you updated to any major news.
I was contacted recently by Vice News about a project they were working on for the "Epicly Later'd" series. I remember talking with Spike a few times when I'd stop by Rockville. He went out on tour with Haro in '86 and never looked back. He got a job out west shooting pics and editing, made a few skateboard videos, music videos, a movie or two and won some awards. Congrats Spike. "Sabotage"is still one of my favorite music videos. https://youtu.be/1cgYYDCIxss
Any fans down under? Great event coming to Adelaide. Spread the word.
Hey Fans, remeber the movie Rad. Here's the star of the show 30 years later getting Rad on his signature bike. Go to http://myradcareer.com to check out his bike, some shirts and his book. The bike is designed by our good friend Martin Aparijo and built by Craig Turner(welder extradonaire and son of Gary Turner). Anyone interested can also check in with Bill to say thanks and order some gear.
I've had O.M. on the brain lately so thought I'd share one of the things he gave me. I love Bob's old drawings and sure miss Scot. He could talk your ear off, but he was great at listening when you needed help or inspiration or just to vent. Now that I think back, he was there when I needed advice on my website or producing the video. He used to introduce me as his friend, The Producer. An overstatement to say the least, but one of the ways he would try to lift you up. I'm sure many others in the industry can relate. Ride On Brother Scot...we miss all that made you so unforgettable, both good and bad. Love ya right back Scot.
Any fans down under? You'll want to go check this out. The King of Skateparks is coming to Adelaide.
A Night with Eddie SOLD OUT
A BIG Thank you to everyone that has got behind this event. It's panning out to be a night not to be missed.
Reminder: Those that have not finalised ticket payment please do so before Friday the 4th of November. Thank you.
See you on the 2nd of December
A few shots I took while chatting with Eddie today. We all think we have cool stuff hanging in our garage until you come here. I usually don't take pics in here but today I thought this stuff has to be shared. Somehow the shot of the mohawk sticker helmet hanging from the skatepark bike didn't turn out. Next time. The Fiola pad was top quality and a gift from some fans. Stay tuned for more Inside Eddie episodes.
Give and you shall receive. Thanks Michael, the community is grateful for sure.
Michael Pusey built a BMX track in Peckham to help give local kids something to do. Now the track is home to two Olympians, two of the world's best female rider...s and national and international champions - and he's been awarded an MBE in the New Year's Honours list.
