I was so blessed on yesterday to discovery an autosomal DNA match to my maternal uncle and one of my maternal brothers who had an ethnicity estimate 100% Cameroon, Congo & Southern Bantu Peoples!
The segment size only 6 cm for both of them but it is still there!!!

I messaged him at AncestryDNA to thank him for testing and ask about his ties to the beautiful continent of Africa, location showed him living elsewhere. He responded overnight. He was born in Cameroon and both of h...is parents are from the Bangwa ethnic group!

The Bangwa ethic group more closely tied the A00 Y-DNA - the haplogroup carried by our maternal Perry male cousins who tested at FTDNA. What a great surprise!

Here’s a link to the free download of the paper just published by David Reich’s lab, describing and analyzing their finding that one of the ancient specimens from the Shum Laka archaeological site in Cameroon, near our research sites, has been found to bear A00 Y-DNA. Matthew is listed as a co-author!
