Did love it but now Amy Macdonald is gone probably won't listen. She was funny intelligent and just the perfect start to the weekend. Typical Abc to always wreck it when on a good thing.

Been meaning to drop a line for ages. Just wanna shout out to Matt Webber for the music choices on his show. Many times on the short drive home I'll turn the radio on and my tinny pre-millenial hyunda...i speakers come alive with interesting, fresh, melodious, slightly-extended-but-not-too-extended-guitar-jam-style sounds. Perfect for the moment and well chosen with the drive in mind. Many thanks to ABC Gold Coast. See More

A big thank you to Scott Lamond and ABC Gold Coast for the tickets to see the advance screening of 'Healing' today at the Gold Coast Arts Centre. I can honestly say it is a long, long time since I hav...e seen such an uplifting movie and can and will recommend this movie to everyone. There are not enough superlatives for the acting of Hugo Weaving and Don Hany and the theme revolving around rehabbing an injured eagle coupled with the therapeutic nature of this on someone dealing with his own issues hit very close to home - after a massive heart attack and bypass surgery in 2007, the coming into my life of a long bill corella helped me deal with my recovery. Gilly is still part of my daily life and is on my shoulder in my profile photo. Thank you again ABC Gold Coast, this without doubt will be one of the top movies of 2014. See More

Best local news and current affairs on the Goldie. Hands off regional stations, out-of-touch metro-based management, they are backbone of local communities.

🌌 LOCAL GENIUSES SIGN MARS DEAL WITH NASA 🌌

It sounds like something out of a movie, but a Pimpama based company has made sci-fi a reality, and have signed a deal with NASA to develop a rover to extract water from Mars.

Jamie Gilmour, from Gilmour Space Technologies, told the ABC's Nicole Dyer that part of the deal is that they will actually be testing at the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, where there is a mock up of the surface of Mars, on which to test the rover.

...

"The real fundamental key to the idea is extracting the hydrogen. So essentially, that will be through a process of heating that up, and that will turn into a vapour, to a steam, and from the steam, we're actually able to create water. So, very similar to what everyone saw in a recent movie about Mars. So, pretty cool."

What do Gilmour Space Technologies get out of the deal? Jamie Gilmour says that part of the agreement is exploring other potential future activities , such as space transportation, propulsion, and life support systems.

"This does open up areas of future collaboration with other third parties, to look to get involved with us, to benefit humanity.'

🦈🌊 SHARK NET LOOSE 🦈🌊

It removed most of the nets and drum lines along the coast before the swell hit, but not all could be taken out safely.

Queensland Shark Control Program Manager Jeff Krause is urging people who see shark control gear that has come loose to contact authorities.
