Learn to Listen Again
All levels should start by listening to the song closely a couple of times and clea...ring your mind of other things. At first, don’t worry about trying to understand or identify words; just listen to the sounds. You want to get a feel for the melody as well as the overall sound of the lyrics. One reason children pick up languages more quickly is their ability to listen closely to the sounds. As adults we are so used to hearing our native language that we don’t require much effort to listen. Children have to put in more effort to decipher the sounds and meanings, and although their attention spans are shorter, when they are, in fact, paying attention, they are intently focused. You want to redevelop your childlike focus when listening, as babies we got plenty of exposure to English sounds before we were able to mimic them correctly.
