Kimberly ended the day by meeting with some of the staff of Consumers Credit Union. They presented us with a check for over $800 from Paper Heart donations in the month of February! Their generosity will help further the mission of the American Heart Association in SW Michigan as we work to reduce the No. 1 health threat to women - heart disease.
Kimberly went on to do an interview with WKZO 590 AM and 106.9 FM's Ken Lanphear. Here is Kimberly discussing the Circle of Red and Larry Bell discussing the Men Go Red groups. These groups, consisting of men and women of influence in SW Michigan, reached a goal of over 115 members, making these the largest Circle of Red groups in the country! To celebrate, the groups will be placing CPR in Schools kits with two SW Michigan school districts in the coming days.
Thank you, Ken, for inviting us on the air today!
We're highlighting Kimberly Earnshaw's work in Southwest MI this morning. This is a conversation about her hopes for CPR education in the area with Larry Bell and Lauri Wingle.
We love links that talk about the health of our best friend. Running delivers many of the same physical and mental benefits to dogs as it does to humans. Some 54 percent of dogs are overweight or obese, according to the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention.
Instead, the researchers found, obesity increases the risk for heart attacks, strokes and high blood pressure, and the risk increases the more fat one carries around the waist.

The GVSU Health and Wellness Team worked with other GVSU departments and their health and wellness ambassadors to raise money for Go Red For Women efforts. The $922 raised is reflected by the photo of the Laker Store on the Allendale campus. #LakerStrong Grand Valley State University #GoRedGrandRapids
Thank you to all of the sponsors and guests who made our West Michigan Wellness Symposium such a great event this week! There was great sharing and discussion of how to make our West Michigan workforce one of the healthiest. We have amazing resources here. What incentives work? What do employees dislike? We tackled it all. Make sure and join us next year for this great event.
