Работы лучших независимых часовых марок, совсем небольших по сравнению с гигантами бизнеса, иногда производят совершенно фееричное впечатление, не меньшее, чем шедевры крупных мануфактур.

WATCH LIFE - AN INTERVIEW WITH PHILIPPE DUFOUR
Early in April, we took a trip to a famous valley in the Jura mountains, synonymous with the great and the good of Swiss watchmaking. We had an appointment to see a certain watchmaker, with a story or two to tell...
The beating heart of Swiss horology (if you'll pardon the pun), La Vallée de Joux to this day, holds some of the finest watch manufactures. Whilst all undeniably worthy of a visit, its significance to us that fine spr...ing morning, was as the birthplace of Philippe Dufour, standard-bearer in our eyes, of all that is great at the highest-level of mechanical watch-making.
In an unassuming house in Le Soliat, there is a simple sign at the door, it reads: Philippe Dufour, Horlogerie compliquée. To most, this unassuming plaque would not mean much, but for those who know a thing or two about watches, it's enough to break-out into a cold sweat with excitement. You see, Philippe Dufour’s watches are perhaps amongst the hardest to attain, due to his small-scale production and the fact that he is effectively a one-man Atelier. Some of the last collectors to order his Simplicity, had to wait almost twelve years for it to be delivered, and while Philippe always feels bad about making his clients wait, they were more than happy to. That for us, perfectly reflects the esteemed reverence in which he's held by so-much of the watch world.
On that sunny morning in Le Soliat, we sat down with Monsieur Dufour in his workshop to discuss his life as a watchmaker. Both charming and a great story-teller, he touched on his thoughts about the industry, and the ups and downs of becoming a fully-fledged independent watchmaker - not to mention showing us some of the timepieces that have come to define his career. This is not one to miss.

Rockstar Kari Voutilainen
A dozen years ago, Kari Voutilainen was a horological ghostwriter, working anonymously for various high-end watch brands. Except for the few, one-of-a-kind pieces he made under his own label, his work bore the names of others. Now he’s a watchmaking star.
Ludovic Ballouard Watches, is in 8 years 3 movements house manufactured 100% manufacturing and assembly in Switzerland with unique and patented complications. I...t is 1 Opus (13). In the order of their creation, the movements B01, B02 & B03. And it's a 100% independent watchmaker (very rare). It is also an ultra limited production. No marketing, no showbiz star, no sports star, no shareholders, but only 1 watchmaker fully dedicated to your pleasure. To have the right time on the wrist does not necessarily mean that you have made the best choice but it is better than nothing 😉
The most complicated watch in the world, which entered proudly into the Guinness Book of Records, is the wristwatch created by the collaboration of two famous watchmakers Franck Muller (Geneva) and Paul Gerber (Zurich), fantastically complicated the hour-long invention of Louis Elysée Piguet of Le Brassus in the end of the 19th. For 11 years, the masters thrice complicated the watch before presenting the final version of the complication, consisting of 1116 parts that fit in a miniature case, in which the smallest flying Tourbillon, a Split-Seconds, Flyback Chronograph with jumping 60-minute counter were inserted.
This is one of the most amazing pages of the watch story. You can read it here ..
