{DK - Conservatarian} The Right will argue that you have the right to legally own firearms to defend yourself, but then use the fact that someone at the BLM protest had a legally owned firearm to justify why he should have died.
"Well if he didn't want to die, he shouldn't have carried a legally owned firearm pointed safely toward the ground!" -the party who 'fights' for the right to carry legally owned firearms...
What they really mean is "If he didn't want to die, he should...n't have disagreed with my political party."
The left is demonizing him as an alt-right extremist, while the right is demonizing him as a BLM extremist. He was either. He was a Libertarian who was protecting protesters despite not completely agreeing with them, and he was murdered.
Garrett Foster, a member of the Libertarian Party, was killed last night at a protest against police violence.
A man reportedly drove his car through the prote...sters, nearly hitting Garrett and his fiancée. Garrett, who was there with his rifle to help protect the protestors from state violence, pushed his fiancée's wheelchair out of the path of the car.
The driver then fired a gun at Garrett multiple times, fatally wounding him.
According to multiple eyewitness reports, Garrett never threatened the man with the rifle he was legally carrying and that his firearm was pointed at the ground the entire time.
Austin police have confirmed that Garrett never fired his gun.
Garrett died a hero, giving his life to protect those who were exercising their right to protest against government abuse of the citizenry. We should all honor his memory and strive to live up to the example he set.

{LH - Minarchist} This seems very relevant today. We can't be so certain that we dismiss all criticisms and development of the libertarian philosophy.
Something I think applies to everyone today.
