As of this week, grassroots donors have raised more this election cycle than in the ENTIRE 2016 cycle. Small-dollar donors gave $781 million in all of 2015 and 2016. But since January 2017, we've handled $783 million for thousands of groups — with six months to go until Election Day!
Primaries are taking place in several states today AND this week marks six months until Election Day! The 2018 election season is officially here, and grassroots donors are ready to power Democrats to victory — they've already raised over $770M on ActBlue this cycle!
We believe in the power of small-dollar donors! Not just because everyone should be able to make their voices heard in our elections, but because small-dollar fundraising works. Take it from our Executive Director, Erin Hill, who said in Campaigns & Elections that "Small-dollar donors do not just give – they volunteer, tell their friends, organize, and make a pivotal difference in campaigns." These are the folks that will be powering this year's blue wave!
The first quarter of 2018 at ActBlue was one for the history books — small-dollar donors raised over $180 million for campaigns + organizations using our tools, making it the biggest quarter ever on ActBlue! And we're still months away from the heat of election season. Small-dollar donors are powering the blue wave! http://blog.actblue.com/…/q1-2018-a-record-number-of-recor…/
Small-dollar donors have raised over $171 million on ActBlue this quarter! That's more than any other quarter in our history — and there's still a whole day to go. Grassroots supporters are generating unbelievable people power to help Democrats win big this year!
Conor Lamb on the results of his PA special election: "I'm proud that you helped me refuse corporate PAC money. You helped us raise millions in small contributions. We were able to campaign the way American democracy is supposed to be."
Your grassroots donations helped Lamb flip a district that Trump won by 20 points — that's what people power can do! Congratulations Conor, and congratulations to all the small-dollar donors who drove this race! We're proud our tools could be a part of it!
"The "Virginia Effect" should have Republicans very concerned." It's so exciting to see so many folks taking action and running for office in deep-red districts this year!
Women continue to lead the resistance, by both organizing AND running for office — we're on track for a record-breaking number of women to run for the House and Senate this year!
The Kochs' network of mega-donors isn't slowing down, but the good news is small-dollar donors aren't either. They kicked off 2018 by raising over $40M so far in January, all for campaigns and organizations working to resist.
Small-dollar donors have contributed record-breaking amounts to help Democrats win since Trump's election! Our Executive Director, Erin Hill in NBC News' piece on the one-year anniversary of the anti-Trump resistance: "If 2017 was off the map already, I can't imagine what 2018 will be."
"Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue raised $523 million for candidates over the course of 2017[...]and 62% of the donors were women." We love this piece from TIME on the record number of women involved in politics right now!
It's official: Grassroots donors have raised over $2 BILLION for Democratic candidates, progressive organizations, and nonprofits using ActBlue! Small-dollar donors have given over 54 million individual donations, with an average contribution size of just $36.75. This is what $2 billion in grassroots dollars looks like, from our founding in 2004 to today. billion.actblue.com
By 2027 more than half of all Americans will be paying more in taxes, while the wealthy receive tax breaks, all thanks to the tax bill that the GOP just passed. You can support the Democrats who will eventually run to get these Republicans out of office here:
We're so inspired by everything grassroots donors did for the resistance in 2017, from fighting for health care to helping Democrats win big in November. Check out our annual report here to see their total impact:
