I've just come back from a week in Assynt with Alex on a 1-2-1 workshop and can't rate him highly en...ough as a host, guide and tutor. Alex showed we the splendour that is Assynt and despite some 'interesting' weather at times I came away with some amazing shots. His help with composition and post processing was invaluable and I have no doubts will help my future ambitions in photography. I have no doubts at all that I'll be back for another of Alex's workshops very soon! See More
In February 2017 I joined the group of Alex Nail for a week in the Drakensberg in South Africa and a...ppreciated the excellent organisation: The considerate planning of the day legs, the well-picked camp sites with a plethora of scenic photo opportunities in near vicinity, the collaboration with an experienced local guide as well as able porters and the high quality of the provided equipment (tents, boilers etc.) made the whole trip as comfortable as a trip to a remote area like the Drakensberg can possibly be. If you are already an avid photographer, you can experience the epic landscapes without much organisational hassle and if you still require some guidance, Alex will put his photographic ambitions second to helping you and deliberately miss out on great opportunities himself. Two minor points of criticism would be the occasionally sarcastic tone and somewhat confusing, misleading directions (However I am not a native English speaker, which might have been relevant.) In general though, I can truly recommend to book a hike with Alex. See More
In March this year my partner and I joined Alex and co. on a week long photographic, trekking, campi...ng and all round very memorable experience up, across and back down the Drakensberg mountains in South Africa. The scenery, landscapes, beauty and rawness of the place truly gave one a lot of opportunity to take some very spectacular photos. Even for amateurs such as ourselves, the tutelage that Alex provided really paid dividends as we have plenty of amazing shots and long lasting memories. Of course none of this can happen without great planning, great local knowledge and porters who can carry a heck of a lot of weight (thank you)! A personal word of advice though, you do need a moderate level of fitness and adhere to the list of gear recommended to take with you. Overall a sensational trip and we would not hesitate in recommending a photographic adventure with Mr Alex Nail. See More
