- Palestinian Tale #124: Terror against Israelis is the result of the ...Israeli occupation. This is very obviously a Tale. The terror had started well before 1967, when the West Bank and Gaza were still under Arab control - occupied by Jordan and Egypt. Already then the terror was not directed against the Jordanian or Egyptian occupation, but against Israeli civilians in Israel. Thus in the 1950s - before the "occupation" - twice as many Israelis were killed by terrorists as in the 1980s - when there was "occupation." The terror even started already in the 1920s, under the influence of a mixture of Islamic fundamentalism, Nazism and Arab nationalism. That was almost 50 years before Israel got possession of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip - and 30 years before the State of Israel was founded. So this proves that terrorism is not aimed against "occupation," but purely against the Jews. The PLO and Fatah were already formed before 1967 for that purpose, when there existed not one "settlement." And even after the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, the terror from there continued and even intensified. Incidentally, the Oslo peace accords have granted 98 percent of the Palestinians self-government. In return, the Palestinians pledged to renounce violence. Any act of violence is a Palestinian violation of the peace accords. Muslim fanatics can always invent reasons explaining that Muslims are victims of some injustice and that is the reason that people of other faiths should be killed. In fact, the reason for their hatred is the mere existence of people with other faiths - including Shiites, Christians, Yazidis, and Jews - in the Middle East.
