Chair of the board And also see the former chair of the And uh go powder while heading videos I see everything you All right thank you for all of the Continue over the years having us of your partners so I'm gonna share with you some reflections and only I'm gonna try to go quickly so secondly if you see anything you're gonna see On our website if you want to say to 12 as well website to get uh please feel free to follow up with me and email and twitter and I'll share everything that's here is Republican something you can have a copy of it and I'm going to uh some title uh some of my slides and uh findings here from Performance yesterday so that's the star of what is the theme of the two thousand and eighteen election immigrants we get the job done Uh sometimes that Is that tomorrow will be more of us Um for those who didn't get to see the play yesterday we have the opportunity to see the play for hardball and you don't have an opportunity to see the leg you can check in with my daughter As an Um so let me start by thanking some of the partners some of who are in the group to clear nothing partners on the research that we conducted in two thousand and eighteen at the document Remember this place When needles Mi familia book using three very important partners that we've been working with a longtime admissions about innovation fun on work and you can see some of the other partners that work on our uh resources here what were the headlines of two thousand and eighteen most of you already know this but we're able to documented and currently the voter anger is real latinos and other communities of color retirement the attacks and the rationalization that was taking place in our communities not just here in whatever legal but in the main land and across the southwest of the discussion of migrants immigrants in the world as There was nothing patient for a midterm election I'm gonna give you some of the numbers here at the end of my presentation as I said at the outset tomorrow there will be more of us because the glass is only half a hold we have so much opportunity that you're going to see um what we can do with our populations In two thousand eighteen elections with a very good participation for latino and it was a very good vote uh for Democratic candidates we estimated at 73 to 23 votes share split Community which was about in line of the American community of course behind the record but for the African American community potato in for Our communities of color drove the blue wave in two thousand and eighteen as White ground hispanics continue to vote a majority of Republicans so it was really a latino community in partnership with other communities and fellow what were people thinking about there was no question that this was a referendum on problematic I was like he himself told us this imagine his name is on the ballot and many of the announced another voters state of magic that he was talking about how do they feel uh Sunday 30 percent of what they will said the things trump says making a tree 72 percent instead of make them feel disrespected when voters feel like that it's not surprising Take action Earlier we've been asking this question about presidential candidates and Leaders for a long time and they have awesome impact on your community and they've been packed But those are the opening questions and some of the focus group's findings that we have been finding over the last few years we've had a Which was not just a positive or a negative impact but people were volunteering on none of those trump is a racist this is the number one answer given by latinos and African Americans 40 - eight percent and take it together with those who thought they had to make an impact and see the nearly three quarters of a bucket of stuff There was a consistent feeling that it wasn't just trump up Republicans in general are using this positive rhetoric to try to divide us not tonight us that this was being in so what issue do I think I want to see progress not surprising the strong support for the Dream act and eighty five percent continues to be an idiot to buy In addition if you district discussion on the last panel on climate change it's becoming more and more salient issue in the general community over eighty one percent I want to see the president's action by the federal government uh federal wage increase for strengthening than expand obamacare and to pass stricter gun laws these are just some of the issues that have the highest amount of support in the lucky communion where are those going to the parties not surprisingly not just President trump of the Republican party in general continuing the summer with the latino community 30 Legal publican party is directly possible first latinos and you see the difference that we have African Americans and latinos feel towards Republican party most average Americans to leave the Republican party just ignores their community 55 percent Same with Asian American with latino the largest and for giving was a Republican party as possible and So what that means is new in two thousand and eighteen well it was record mobilization I'm gonna show you two points since the first of what we call self mobilization 77 percent of latinos says that they are serving they encourage a friend or family member to get out and vote this year we were taking it upon ourselves to get active in this election hiring in the race for White on expansion see over 10 points higher but those are more likely to encourage those folks but we are also being contacting the record 53 percent of kennels in 15 points higher than the reporting contact from White mountains fairness is in the seventh most competitive houses reported that somebody contacting now we have more work to do we want that number to reach a hundred Higher than we've ever seen in the midterm election and Thanks to the power so now I'm gonna turn you and give you some statistics and data points on what was the turnout what do we know in terms of what happened on the transition and show you some real election result data in terms of how many latinos will These are the counties in Texas that got most of the attention Dallas harris travis County these are the counties that had huge increases for 20 14 to 20 eighteen eighty six eighty six to 94 percent increase in the boat to get in Texas but the counties that have the largest increase in the percentage of votes cast for 14 to eighteen for the majority of if you don't County The Rio Grand Valley and impossible these companies have over a 100 percent increase in votes cast in Texas I was in the White counties in Texas this there are small counties in Texas that are eighty eighty four 91 percent White White on this family this has very small changes from 15 39 the Eighty three percent what does that look like overall well this is a scatter plot of every single County in Texas we have never seen a chart like this before this is measuring the change in both caps from 14 to eighteen and as you go across the x axis on the bottom with a hundred percent latino counties these counties at the highest increases volts cats from 14 to eighteen the most robust increase what's happening in the lucky part But this is just the tip of the iceberg in Texas we had 800000 increase estimated in latino votes to capture 14 to eighteen also from a millions or million point eight But there are another one point seven Register latinos already registered that did not go practicing this election and there are another two million eligible citizen of Texas not That's a three point seven million followers the tip of the iceberg So what are latinos it's another reference here young strapping down we look at this truck this is our population okay this is what it looks like an iceberg this is why tomorrow will be warmer this is the median age 29 that's our every change half of our population is under 29 including the single largest population road zero to five that's our single largest accountable what's our second artist category five to nine this population is going to be moving up as we get more registered and more engaged and will continue to be record Finally let me close with We put the date on over 20000 recent across the country in eight States Arizona Texas nevada Florida California New York New Jersey and new measure these eight States there were 20 congressional districts to flip Red blue that were in latino influence This is one These eight States alone across the uh x x is here with a lot of we're going to see how many latinos within each precinct from zero to a hundred percent lifting across the y after school and going down you're gonna see how many votes you more less votes down low or voters apart okay and each dot is a precinct and we're gonna compare the 20 fourteenth to the 20 eighteen this is what the entire mountain is like let me take it you take me for a very good this is my last Over here on the left side of your screen these are not moderate increases were zero to 10 percent of the 14 percent of them have less than 10 percent includes 26 percent of them I 10 to 40 rope uh Another order out of 40 to 70 percent increase in 36 percent of not dealing with freezing half over 70 percent On the other side of the chart only five percent of our greetings at less than 10 there's almost no reason we don't have an almost a single places in having ignorance you go all over to the top over half of our prices at over 70 percent increase and what this means if you put thisfitfuel line on here is that in the unlucky parts of these eight States there was a 37 percent increase in the book that's the In the latino part of the of the chart it was a 96 percent increase on out so we know we had tremendous growth faster than anywhere else in any other parts of our States and counties so what are we learning about 20 -eighteen continued investment in working with people of color as the greatest opportunities for gains minority voters are supporting candidates who stood up for their issues there are issues feet welcoming self respect of anti racism in And finally what they don't people two thousand eighteen latinos black station Americans were angry felt disrespected we sell low lives that we're engaged in the political campaigns so when we think about two thousand eighteen what we say our children tell our story tell our story of two thousand and eighteen Last part because of our Speaker this morning we asked the question about our luxury Speaker this morning we have a pastor and this was before the announcement at the tail end of our tracking poll in two thousand and eighteen at the Democratic party and nominates as President or vice President either a latino candidate we're gonna be on pastor will be more less a sight you see overwhelmingly there's excitement around this residential Latinos want to see ourselves reflected in government William castro does this 67 percent of latinos as they would be more likely to vote Democratic 11 points higher than over a generic can nominate so there's a lot of opportunity and love for bankers it's all uh regardless of which candidate you are supporting just a fork only on it support the effort of the For someone else but support for the idea that we're It's always challenging to watch they are going presentation Hello we're Congratulations And it's a story six We begin here is the Puerto rican population and looking for Is there more today More people living Or This is a population of over five In the Puerto rican population from 19 40 on big waste Population in the us where the Groups in the United States When you In the Oh my gosh Alright this is New York jump in migration after We'll be moving on that Again You can see this In terms of growth one of the state's largest population We are Florida population Impound politics of this Puerto rican population We can see the uh here uh This is Uh Population for on the That For The other day but you can see down look at New York Here we go On You buy here and what we can see here uh Actually So we see that 23 25 You see that this is obviously in spite of the trend an increasing again two thousand This is the pursuit of You buy you one you must worship Here If you look closely Very graphic and Uh Uh We only popular This is a huge challenge And people who are in the workforce in climbing These are Population Exercise here is Eighteen years age And Keep right here Now turning to the left we're turning for susan's You see that two thousand 17 Holders and the key state of Florida who if they can mobilize House Which is critical Because I think Uh here are estimated to rogers support of Puerto Rico Since 19 40 two thousand 10 Ready sure 11 one is We focus politicians focus on For All right two months two years three million eligible latino voters in the state of Florida in anything that This is fun This represent This huge population that does not Or go to the million Even increase from two thousand 14 we gotta cancel If it's exercise it's democratically guaranteed right and Puerto These are here but I wanted to emphasize in the participation rate before increased significantly in Florida for the midterms two thousand 14 Wow 12 54 percent I guarantee you This is John Look at this in more occasion again here is another uh Horrendously pinch 111 Why only What's that You A shot of cool oats What happened for 16 55 We know this morning security six three for you who are looking at You are going to see in two thousand 16 one Young young young people So Sure um And the number That's really where they're So this is Um All right here's For Only Voter registration cards Puerto rican voters The Here's Population In this sort of here is where the race again Months long must So just again And make this thing look if you are register Again the Republican margin of victory There's a small Uh also uh Spots Real six This uh Philadelphia is Okay This Why am I a Once again here you have a Hello this Thank you The key is for Key is The voter registration in the United States has been possible It is seven 58 50 one Democracy is a messy business You got this voter participation That's awesome Okay Already all ready What's wrong here You can't go before the election Cross now This figure Give me another Uh another way to support you to your next And many great before you get the final section of the day I think those are probably hungry which is cafe downstairs but it's 10 minutes it was her frankly 11 40 yes thank you 11 42
