Good afternoon When I thought this nice job as a former teacher turned Orange County School Warm Amber, It is an honor for me to stand alongside you today. The fight for funding for school is one that is close to my heart. I came to the United States from Puerto Rico in 1990. Quickly despite not knowing any English, I got involved at the local community High School Colonial High. One school where the student body is currently 70 - four. I started as a volunteer and then became a substitute teacher until eventually I was offer a position as a full-time Stanis teacher without much hesitation. I decided to accept the offer beginning an incredible journey when I have been on or to stand up for and with my students. Teacher for 18 years, I saw firsthand how the law created by our electoral officials were failing our students, our teachers, our schools and our communities happy from unlivable wages for teachers and non instructional personal like our bus drivers and Johnny tours to a lack of funding for academic service, there's and programming at our title one schools it was. To me that our public schools and its students were suffering as the result of years and years of failed policies that put private interests before our public schools. Yes. 2018 With the help of my students and teacher colleagues, I successfully run for the Orange County School Board on a platform that focused on increasing wages for all workers, providing more services for vulnerable students and focusing on providing mental health support. When I got to the school board a year ago, I realized that on those issues, our hands were tied. I mean the majority of the war once it so increase teachers wages and benefits as much as possible but everywhere we looked it was almost impossible to come up with the necessary funds to make that reality that is the case on almost every issue our public schools and stores are suffering because they are not fun that properly at the state level and then Don David de American andar don And to our brothers and sister from Paul County, Thank you for being here. You are the heroes of this cost. He said more we need a change we need this election. Here is the best time to make this necessary changes. That's why. Let's go for candy bags will respect the future of our society to respect those who work hard to educate the next generation of leaders and who support our public education. Our first don't fund our schools properly, then maybe they should lose their jobs. This is one for you for the curl. It's time to take over save on time. We just finished listening to Jonas Lopez.
