We welcome 14 poets, bring 2 original poems that each can be read in under 3 min. 3 judges will score from 1.0-10.0. Along with poets we need a room full of love for the art of spoken word. Come and make a friend, have a drink and bring an open mind. Stick around for some music after. You need to be 21 to enter the bar.

After intensive negotiations with the manager of DGs, we have been given the go-ahead to add EVEN MORE PRIZES to this month's slam! Because it's Love Month, our theme for the evening will be "Tainted Love."
The Bonus Prizes:...
1) The best non-mushy love poem of the evening will win a free drink, courtesy of Jim. Runner up has to make out with him*.
2) Same prizes apply for the best Singles Awareness Day poem.

How it works:
Bring three original pieces of poetry (1-3 minutes long each) and there will be two rounds where each poet will share one piece in each round. There will be judges, judging on a scale of 1-10. At the end we will add up the scores and three winners will be selected to receive an original piece of artwork! Have fun!!! Ready, set.... SLAM!!!!

Hey guys, do to some things coming up an impromptu poetry event for a certain group has been dissolved for now.
However, the Roatary room in the Ames Public Library is still reserved at 7pm tomorrow Wednesday August 23rd until 8pm. If anyone is interested in hanging out and maybe writing a few bars or sharing them. Someone will be there to enjoy your company in this safe space. Come on out.
