It's that kind of day where every song makes you think too much so you turn off the radio...the silence is too much...praying brings tears...you curse time and wish that everyone you'd ever lost would return so you could see them smile again...and you wish that you could undo every regret. Maybe because my Mimi is 85 today and the awareness of the "slipping of time" is so profound.
When I was becoming an auctioneer, I practiced constantly, and when I'd put little 4 year old Julia to bed I could hear her little voice as I walked out of her room saying "I'm bid one now one now, two now two now, thwee now thwee now...". And when my girls would accompany me to state conventions, she would walk around at the fun auctions asking people if she could sell their item. Friday night, Julia Courtenay Sparks was named the International Junior Auctioneer Champion! Th...e very first female, as well as being the very first child of International Auctioneer Champions, to win this honor! Spanky Assiter and I have worked with her, (at her request) and watched her, for the past few months, work her bottom off to get prepared for this competition, then watched her grace the stage, so poised and grown up, to accept that awesome trophy! Julia, you are going to be an amazing champion and ambassador representing the next generation of auctioneers! Spanky and I can't wait to accompany YOU to St. Jude and other places you'll be touching peoples lives throughout this year!

$1,000,000 was raised to benefit the Armed Forces Foundation by selling a 1964 Ford Fairlane. The Armed Forces Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing solace to members of the Armed Forces community during their time of greatest need. The fun didn’t stop there as celebrity night show host Jay Leno drove his 2007 New Holland Boomer Tractor on the block late Saturday night. The tractor that Mr. Leno donated sold for $535,000. One hundred percent of the proceeds went to support Fisher House. Fisher House focuses on providing a "home away from home" for military families to be close to a loved one during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury. It is rewarding to see the ongoing efforts to Barrett-Jackson and their partners to significantly make a difference.
