In a very sad development, Mayor Gray just launched a last minute attack ad against my 20 years of military service that took me away from my Kentucky home. After telling people he would not run negative ads, for him to do this at 5pm on the Friday evening before the election shows his intent — he wanted to do a sneak attack at a time when we would not be able to respond.
Well, we are responding the best way we know how — by hoping that all of you will join me in condemning this attack. This is not just an attack on me. This is also an attack against any American citizen who chooses to serve their country in times of war and then come home to continue their service in another way.
I am proud of the substantive and positive campaign that we have run, and it should serve as an example of what Democratic Party voters are craving right now. It is the reason why we were able to reverse a 45-point advantage that Mayor Gray had just a few months ago. Democrats want substance and a vision for what we will do if elected to Congress. Not last minute personal attack ads on a Marine’s military service.
This is part of the problem with politics today and it's why I decided to run for public office after a 20-year career as a combat Marine. Our country needs a new generation of leaders we can trust to fix a broken Congress. This is my 90th Mission and I hope you will continue to support me through this primary and on to the general election against Andy Barr.
I won't let you down.
-Amy

Listen to me, Marine: my cousin, an EA-6B pilot, who served with My Beloved Corps from
Vietnam to the Clinton administration, was called a CARPETBAGGER when he ran for re-election as Judge Executive of Breckinridge County a few years ago. My family FOU…

Amy McGrath, sit down with your kids. Play a game. Turn off the television, turn off your phone. Have a beer. Take a long, hot bath. Put your feet up. Breathe. You earned a break from this madness. You will win.

I saw the ad and was Very disappointed in him for doing that. We had a discussion in our house about it and it was determined by all of us that it was basic horse manure for him to run that ad. It swayed another voter in your favor after I pointed out …

Integrity on his part is lost for me....my kid interned for him for free last election season and was promised a letter for college and we never got it despite reaching out to him many, many times. Tells me all I need to know about how he runs business. You got my vote!

That pretty much made my decision to vote for you. Shame on him for implicating you weren’t a true Kentuckian.

As far as I can see Gray did not serve in the military. For him to attack a distinguished combat veteran on the basis of her service is despicable. Col. McGrath will take him down and go on to win the general election. Kentucky support Amy.

Thank you Lt. Col. McGrath for your post. But just one point of clarification about what we Democrats in Kentucky want: we want a nominee who will beat Andy Barr. If one thinks the mayor’s add is oh so outrageous, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Just wait …
