KTHV-TV Evening News Anchor
Matt Turner joined the KTHV team in August of 2012. The Arkadelphia native currently anchors the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts for the Little Rock television stati...on.

Matt made the move to Central Arkansas after spending nine years in Fayetteville. Just days after graduating from Ouachita Baptist University, Turner was hired by KNWA-TV to be the weekend sports anchor. Less than three years after he joined the Northwest Arkansas NBC affiliate, Matt received a promotion and was named the station's primary news anchor.

During his time in Razorback country, Matt was voted best news anchor by several publications, was named to the Arkansas Business Journal's "40 Under 40" list for achievement in business and won first place for a sports story by the Arkansas Society of Professional Journalists.

Turner initially caught the eye of KNWA management while reporting from Little Rock during the Nolan Richardson racial discrimination trial. As a sportscaster, he covered several other important news events including a tornado that ripped through Northwest Arkansas in March of 2006. During his time with the Razorback Nation sports team, Turner was responsible for numerous exclusive interviews and breaking news stories while anchoring throughout the week for both KNWA and KARK in Little Rock.

Turner was born and raised in Arkadelphia, Arkansas but left the state he loves after high school to play football for the University of Southern Mississippi. After one year in Hattiesburg, he transferred back to his hometown to play quarterback for the Ouachita Baptist University Tigers.

Once he gave up athletics, Turner began working the sidelines on radio and television. He did play-by-play and color commentary for Arkadelphia High School and OBU sports along with hosting a weekly coaches TV show and writing for the local newspaper. Turner also interned at Hooten's Arkansas Football Magazine and KATV in Little Rock before earning a degree in Mass Communications. Matt also spent one season following a high school football team -- shooting, editing and producing a lengthy documentary about the triumph and tragedy the players and coaches endured that year.

While working for KNWA, Turner has moderated various political debates and loves volunteering in the community by emceeing events and fundraisers that raise money for local charities.

Matt and his wife Julee had their first child in November of 2011. They're absolutely in love with their little girl, Preslee Bell Turner, who's the proud sister of a sweet dog named Romeo!
